Informal unique boating experience on a lovely river
Jose is a wonderful host and helper, dedicated to clients having a great time. Flexibility on the trip and visits to vineyards. Anyone undertaking this holiday should do appropriate research on the area and the river, in order to make the best of it.
Try to do the longer trip to Spain and the trip down to Pinhao is a must.

Beautiful trip down to Douro
A fantastic trip as part of our honeymoon. It's absolutely beautiful scenary on the Douro river, and the boat trip is the perfect way to see it. The company - led by Jose - are excellent, they are very relaxed and helpful and will give excellent guideance on how to pilot the boat and good eating and drinking holes along the way. It was extremely hot in August, but it was cool when motoring on the river, and we stayed in very good value hotels along the way to get some air conditioning for the night.

Amazing Days in Douro River
Relaxing experience on board of a comfortable boat.
It exceeded our expectations!
We spent two days and nights.
Beautiful landscape, with small hidden bays almost private, perfect from a swim.
The weather was very good almost without wind which allowed us really nice pictures.
Great food and wine in the region, we recommend a visit to Preguiça Restaurant.
Even though we had some knowledge of the region, we had a different sight from the river.
Will be back soon with family and friends.

A hidden gem!
This holiday exceeded our expectations. We knew little about the region and simply selected the destination due to the fantastic photos on the site and the fact that my husband is a keen sailor. We booked the chalet for a week and hired the boat for 5 days, however we only used it for 3,as lazing around in the hammocks by the river was just so lovely.
Jose and the lovely Michelle couldn't have been more welcoming and were fantastic hosts. The 'fish soup 'restaurant is a real little gem and we moored up after our meal one night to spend the night in the little bay, which was a great place to swim.
There are several places to visit for a day trip which Jose suggested, including Pinhao (35 mins by train) where we visited the Quinta do Bomfim for a port and wine tour and tasting, a real 'must do' but you need to book in advance.
A fantastic, relaxing holiday I would thoroughly recommend to anyone looking for something off the beaten track and a bit different!

Gorgeous, very different, undiscovered, relaxed excitement, superb host.
There is little to add to the previous reviews. We took the motorboat to the Spanish border and back - 3 days, 5 nights on the boat. Grandparents, adult son and 4 year-old grandson - a terrific trip for all. July is a hot month, and we spent time cooling off swimming in the little bays and hidden nooks of the charming river. We cooked and ate most of our meals on-board, but enjoyed the occasional restaurant very much. This holiday is unspoiled, there were very few boats on the river, except for the Cruise ship birth and coaches in Barca Dalva there are no tourists to disturb this pristine paradise, the countryside of vineyards and olive groves laid out in kinetic art landscapes and interspersed with the wilderness of untouched nature reserves, yet always accompanied by the abandoned railway, its many scenic bridges, lonely stations and watering stops. A grand and mystic river and valley.
There is nothing mystic about Jose and his team - warm, friendly, and above all caring to the last detail: the boat ship-shape and well equipped, the instructions complete and understandable, and always there for every need or question - the base is a home away from home, totally dependable, completely responsive.
But note - this is no luxury cruise - it is boating, and it is like camping, If those are your expectations, you will not be disappointed!

Fabulous trip on the Douro
It all starts with a great train journey. Porto to ferradosa (ca 3 hours). You are then picked up from the train stop and taken to the chalets, right on the river. Dinner, and next morning a briefing, on what you can do, as to how far you can go, and what there is to see and to do. The owner will help you, suggesting restaurant, and special nooks of the river. We did two days in a row, and would do it again. Tomorrow.

Magnificent sailing through UNESCO world Heritage
Couple and one children, rented a boat for a long weekend, sailed up on river Douro until Spanish border. At the boats base, nice little chalet for the first night. Very good navigation, sightseeing and “where to eat” briefing from Mr Jose, modern boat 26ft long. Easy to operate. Four beds and kitchen but we elected to sleep on small nice hotels along the route (marinas are free of charge) and eat and drink Porto wine on local restaurants for very decent prices. Apart from some big cruise ships, we were alone in the river, in a magnificent scenario, a mixed of enchanting vineyards and wild nature.. Beautiful!!! We will come back...

Great!! best experience ever..
My boyfriend and I recently completed a three day tour with Jose ( The boss and our skipper) and we could not be any happier with our experience. Firstly, when booking, Jose was extremely responsive to my emails and he free upgraded our boat from motor one to sail yacht for more funs. When the day came, as soon as we met Jose at "Ferradosa" train station we knew we were in good hands. During the tour, Jose brought us to explore the bests of Rio Douro. The dinner we had was the best during our whole trip in Portugal and stayed in lovely small hotel with unbeatable views and environment. Jose was fun and very friendly to us and have wealthy knowledge about the place. He always with warm and inviting smiles. It was our honor to be the first customers from Hong Kong. One most importation point was that everything there was cheap compared with the other European cities. The tour was absolutely fantastic!!!! The only one shortcoming was the tour was too short, I recommended to stay longer at least 5 days.
