We loved the little studio because it affords magnificent views of the Armaçao de Pera beach, almost from end to end! It has a lift and all you need to do to get down to the beach is cross the road and go down a few steps. It's fantastic! However, it woud be nice if the key to the main door actually worked properly! (the door to the building, that is)
Although the flat is situated in the middle of a vibrant pedestrianised avenue, with shops, cafés and restaurants, along which thousands of people stroll at all times, and in front of a children's amusement park, after midnight the place becomes perfectly quiet and you can just hear the sound of the waves!
The apartment itself is very tastefully decorated in white and blue and has a lovely kitchen and bathroom, and enough space for a double bed and a table and chairs by the window, from which you can see the sea. We did miss, however, having proper reading lights.
Unfortunately, although it has a terrace with a fabulous view, it is so very small that you can hardly move once you've sat down with your partner. It's really tiny and therefore not that comfortable! (I would remove the cupboard on the left, to give it a bit more space). Despite that, we used it every night for our light dinners, while watching the sea, the birds and the entertainments all around.
Finally, although the kitchen is fitted with everything you may desire (cooker, oven, washing machine, fridge, etc), we were disappointed to find no coffee machine or cafetiere and nothing whatsoever in the way of sugar, salt, pepper and things of the sort, which we have always found in previous apartments.
In any case, we did love the place, and, having a private garaje, we were able to get to other amazing places nearby, like Marinha, Ponta da Piedade, Carvoeiro, Silves Castle, Cape Saint Vincent, etc etc.
Do try the "cataplana de peixe" at Hera Restaurant, by the fishermen's beach. Superb!!
