Umah d'Kali ist ein wundervoller ruhiger Ort in einer lebendigen Stadt. Wir genossen morgens und abends den Pool und den schönen Garten! Die Villa Bali hat uns sehr gut gefallen, Betten waren super, Klimaanlage vorhanden, Outdoor-Badezimmer ein Traum, Frühstück war sehr lecker und Marc half uns hervorragend bei Ausflügen und gab uns viele Tips! Great stay, awesome place with real character
Our family of 4 stayed 5 nights at Umah D'Kali and we had a great time, split evenly between relaxing in the large open lounge, enjoying the swimming pool and discovering the surroundings including Prambanan, Borobudur and Kota Gede.
Marc and Hannah are amazing hosts and have created an harmonious place with great taste.

Secluded and peaceful
We stayed here for 3 nights in August at the Bali villa and loved the place. Being from Jodhpur originally, i was keen to stay at the Jodhpur villa but Bali was great too.
Marc wasn't around but his team of 2 - Misro and Amah were great hosts. My 4 yr old decided to be best buddies with Misro which made it easy for me and the wife to relax 😊
The rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated. The swimming pool is adequate and I absolutely loved the library + common area. The host's love for architecture and antiques is evident everywhere in the property.
Its easy to order food via Go-food from anywhere in Jogja and the villa also has a big kitchen which was very handy for us. The villa is a bit far from the city which was fine for us. We rented a 2 wheeler from the villa and arranged a car for longer trips.
Overall a very satisfying stay. Definitely deserves all the rave reviews it has. Thanks Marc and team!

Great personalized service with a smile
The rooms are all very comfortable and nicely decorated with style and good taste. Pool and outside spaces are a haven of tranquility in busy Jogjakarta.
Staff are very friendly and discreet and Hanna is a wonderful host always available to help and advice.
Many thanks for making our stay a memorable one.

Like staying with friends or family
I don't remember such a warm and true welcome somewhere. Marc and Hannah love to have people around and they do everything to make you have it comfortable. The availability and the kindness of Marc and Hannah were really the strong points of our stay. They are there to answer all your questions, and there is no question without a solution, they drove us to the restaurant, even to the hospital in the middle of the night. They also arrange for the airport transfer (included in the price)
Far away from un-personal and standard aseptic hotel rooms , the house itself is very beautiful and nicely decorated with local furniture chosen with taste and is very very charming. It looks really like on the pictures! A very nice swimming pool with terrasses around; our house, a large bedroom, a small second room and a very nice open bathroom were very comfortable. Marc and Hannah share their open and wonderfully decorated kitchen and living room with view on the swimming pool with the guest.
The house is situated slightly out of the city center, which makes it's much more calm, so very nice situation. For visits, one can ask for a car with driver (about 650,000 roepies for one day) or a scooter (which we even didn't pay for!)
As for the food, we had very nice breakfast with lots of fresh fruit and they even arranged for us to taste a gorgeous local breakfast and that was really wow.
We were first alone as guests but some later other people from France arrived as well as his Irish friend and Marc arranged for a nightly visit of the town and a very nice dinner in the house afterwards.
We were very happy to stay there (and sad to leave) and can really recommend the place.
Marc and Hannah, if you come to Belgium, you are welcome to stay with us.

Great villa and lovely city
The Jodhpur villa and the tropical garden is stunning. We stayed here for 7 nights with a 1,5 year old. We loved the pool and the great and friendly personal service. The staff speak unsufficient english but help you call a driver/taxi if you have plans for a daytrip. For questions about the area or other daytrips you need to speak with Hanna or Marc. We went on a bikeride in the surroundings, for which Hanna organised a bikeseat for our daughter. Also, the ricefields are very closeby for a scenic walk. Yogja is a great city to stay for longer than just a few days, the (street)food is delicious, culture and temples within 1 hour drive. This was the best accomodation we had during our 3 weeks in Indonesia. the breakfast is good (continental with pancakes and croissants). I think you can ask for an indonesian breakfast if that is what you want. Please realise that you will find gekkos in your villa, for us this is not a problem and you will probably find gekkos at all accomodations in Indonesia and Bali :)

Gracious hosts and a property with loads of character
Our experience of Villa Umah d Kali was just lovely from beginning to end. Our hosts, Hannah and Marc, were just really nice people - gracious, generous and kind.
Booking with Marc was easy, quick and efficient. Breakfast was plentiful and fresh and varied with tropical fruit and freshly squeezed juice everyday. You can request for a traditional Indonesian breakfast and Hannah will spoil you with great tasty dishes. Marc even arranged pick-up at the airport at no additional cost and arranged for a driver for us to use for our daily excursions (Agus our driver who was equally great!).
The villa itself is very spacious and beautifully furnished with Indian and local antiques and everywhere you look, there is something interesting to marvel at.
What makes the stay extra-special though are Marc and Hannah and hosts like them make you never want to go back to a soulless, characterless hotel!

A Haven
I couldn’t have wished for a better place to stay in Jogjakarta.
We were a party of five and we had the place to ourselves. We stayed in villa Bali and in villa Jodhpur. Both beautifully furnished with antiques sourced from the villa namesakes.
Marc was very helpful: he sent someone to meet us at the airport.
In his absence, his lovely assistant Hana helped us organize our trip with her good advice.
The young gentleman who looked after the property was charming and attentive.
The whole place is furnished with Marc’s exquisite art collection & it was lovely to spend our free time there.
The living area is open-air typical Javanese structure with a fantastic hand engraved wooden ceiling. Although the villas were equipped with flatscreen televisions, we were so charmed with the setting that we weren't even tempted to switch them on. We spent our evenings, enjoying the delicious Javanese tea & talking about our adventures in Indonesia.
On the balmy evenings we enjoyed swimming in our own private pool.
For my sisters who came over from London, as well as for my daughter and myself, who travelled from Lebanon, it was well worth the long journey as we found a haven in a beautiful city with stunning temples & charming people.
Having travelled quite extensively, this place stands out in its charm & character. We are already planning our trip back

Nous y reviendrons avec grand plaisir
Nous y avons passé 6 jours dont 3 à 4 personnes en famille. Le lieu a un charme remarquable plein d'authenticité dans un vrai environnement Javanais.
L'accueil de Marc, notre hôte, a été exceptionnel, toujours attentif, toujours bienveillant et offrant quantité de bonnes idées pour rendre notre visite de la région riche en expériences.
Le petit déjeuner a été chaque jour un très bon moment ainsi que la détente le soir dans la grande partie conviviale commune aux villas
Nous pourrions encore ajouter la table d'hôte
Nous avons tellement de bons souvenirs que nous le conseillons à tous ceux qui recherchent l'authenticité, la beauté associés à cette amabilité que nous avons expérimentée tout au long de notre séjour.

We spent four fantastic nights at Marc's villa. We had never been to Jogja but were keen to explore it. We went from Singapore with our two children who are 12 and 9 and they were absolutely delighted when we arrived and they saw the villa. I had the impression it was three bedrooms and indeed it is but one is much bigger and there are two other smaller stand alone bedroom villas. In our big room (the one which is blue on the photos) there was a gorgeous day bed which actually both children could fit in.
Marc was very happy to let the children stay in the other bedrooms or make up a bed in the big room, which was the option we went for after the first night.
The breakfast we had every morning was perfect and they even prepared a small breakfast and coffee for our last day when we left at 5:00 a.m.
Marc, the owner was there some of the time and so helpful,even driving us into town on our first night, but a lovely man was there the whole time to take care of any queries.
The villa is in a quiet village just outside the hustle and bustle of Jogja and well worth wandering around. You can order in food from a very good European restaurant and they can also arrange for a lady to come round and give you a fantastic Javanese massage.
we had a arranged a driver for three of the days we were there and I would recommend that. it is cheap and means you can get far more done without worrying about giving direction back to the villa, which in the dark is a challenge.
We will definitely go back and hopefully we can get some friends to go with us. Ideal spot for 2 families with children old enough to sleep in a stand alone villa.
I have to mention the furniture throughout the villa is stunning. Marc has a very beautiful and thoughtfully designed home and we feel very lucky to have experienced it.
