Struggling to decide which region to stay in the Swiss Alps

Hi everyone,

I know there have been tons of posts about which city or region to visit in the Swiss Alps, etc, but I'm really struggling to find a good fit for our trip.

We'll arrive in Zurich from Stuttgart (flight) and will likely have 3 days. We can either rent a car or take a train. We're a couple seeking nice mountain views (w or without a lake) in a really nice scenery, preferably in a small town.

We thought of Rapperswil (close to Zurich), Gruyeres, Weggis (lake), Grindelwald, Zernez, Appenzell, and of course, Interlaken and Zermatt.

We'll be there in mid-March next year.

We've read a lot about Zermatt and Interlaken. Some people say Interlaken it's not worth it, and I've noticed Zermatt is very expensive the days I plan to travel.

Do you guys have any suggestions?

Staying in Rapperswil will allow nice mountain views in a nice-small village?

We're looking for something romantic, but we're open to and understand we can find crowds, etc. We have no problems with it, but a quieter place would be great.

Thanks in advance.
