Normally when arriving at sites you stop in a holding area and go to the office to book in and revive the info pack of the site and sometimes general local attraction leaflets.
However here we pulled up and there is a sign saying pitch up. However we had booked two pitches for us and my parents. So assuming they would have been reserved. This wasn’t the case. Adjacent to the site is a static home area and the owner lives in one of them.
It took me a few minutes of charging around to find the right one.
When I did I was told just pitch anywhere.
This we did, however no info on how to pitch in relation to the numbered posts.
The site itself was well kept however seemed haphazard.
The toilet block was pretty shabby and had only one loo and one cramped shower, could do with a major upgrade. The was a small separate shed that we had no idea was another loo.
Half way through our holiday we discovered a much larger room housing a huge double shower, tumble dryer and washing machine. Also local area leaflets which I might add had discount vouchers for those attractions that were all out of date.
None of this was explained to us like other sites. Nor were we given any info on where the facilities where.
When the owner did appear after we set up purely to collect our fees still no info pack.
Left us feeling a little disappointed.
There is a constant drone of road noise from a nearby major A road but it doesn’t settle down later in the day. It did at times get annoying especially with loud motorbikes.
It the biggest frustration was that the site backs right onto a small industrial site. This housed a classic car restoration unit. The noise was constant and at times unbearable. Banging, engines revving cars being driven hard up and down its entrance. Now during normal work hours is one thing but on one day they started at 0645am. It continued well past 8pm. Even on the Sunday they started before 9am and it didn’t shut up until gone 9pm.
Personally I won’t ever book back there. Slightly unprofessional approach to new arrivals and that noise left me annoyed.
They had taken the COVID-19 situation seriously tho. Hand sanitiser provided in the washrooms and there was a big foot operated one outside. All the main door entrance on toilets etc had vacant engaged sliders to prevent you bumping into someone.
On a better note. Not far from Coventry, Birmingham and Stratford-upon-Avon.
Places to defo visit are Stratford-upon-Avon Butterly Farm, Leamington Spa, Stoneleigh Abbey, Birmingham Botanical Gardens.
