We hereby seize the opportunity to remind all readers that while only our main buffet restaurant is fully all-inclusive, our all-inclusive guests are also entitled to have dinner in our 3 à la carte restaurants: La Marée, Le Banyan and Les Filaos, where they may select a 3-course choice within the all-inclusive selection. Should they chose any items with a price in the "AI " column, they shall be charged the mentioned price. Our all-inclusive guests may also visit the other two à la carte restaurants, Château Mon Désir and Lakaz Kreole, which are not included in the all-inclusive package and are at a supplement cost. Dear Valued Guest, Thank you for rating and reviewing the MARITIM Resort & Spa Balaclava on TripAdvisor. We genuinely appreciate that you shared your experience with us. Our prerogative rests in our ongoing pursual to target absolute guest’s satisfaction and we are sorry to read that you did not enjoy your holidays to your full satisfaction. For all readers reading in, we would like to bring some clarifications. The resort does not arrange for excursion or organise free excursion. In case your Travel Agent or their representative did not propose you the service, the Dolphin excursion can also be organised by our Boat House at a fee. A la carte restaurants, Château Mon Désir and Lakaz Kreole are not included on the all-inclusive package. Should you choose an item with an amount written next to it on the menu, you shall be charged the written amount. Items and drinks which are included in your meal plan do not have prices written next to them and are not chargeable. August is the winter season in Mauritius and although, the North is in general warmer during the whole year, the weather on the tropical Island can be unpredictable due to its micro climate. In regards to the mosquitoes and flies, we would like to reassure you that fogging is done regularly even during our winter season, which is less humid. In order to clear out any doubts you may have or any additional information you wish to have prior to your arrival, we invite you to contact us directly on info.mau@maritim.com and we shall be happy to help you. There aren't any shops or markets to walk to and no bus either. Taxi is ok and hotel can organise for you. April weather was good but if it does rain it's warm and is over quickly

Is the snorkelling good from the beach at this hotel? Thank you
When I was there in Dec 2018 the answer is a clear no - the water was quite murky in the bay and hence on the beach. There is a river that feeds into the bay, so I guess there might be different experiences from different people depending on how much rain there had been at that time. However there is a free boat ride that takes you out the bay to the reef and there the water was clear and the snorkelling good.

It is possible to book restaurants in advance by mailing the hotel; however, not all restaurants are open each evening.My response November 2018 gives more info'. Menu selection depends upon your meal / drinks plan - all inclusive gives good flexibility and value. Dress codes apply in all restaurants except the BBQ, are made clear on most operators websites, and are observed by guests and monitored by staff.

Hello. The hotel is slightly set back from the sea but the rooms will have partial view of the sea. The sun set from the beach bar is fantastic so you will have plenty of opportunity to enjoy the fantastic beach setting. If you have upgraded you will get access to the private beach area which is great. This is a lovely hotel. Make sure you book the restaurants when you check in. Enjoy
