My family attended a function in December 2015. The poles of the marquee fell on two people including our 11 year old daughter. I called the management and they offered us no excuse, no reimbursement of Dr fees and no apology
Pathetic place with pathetic management.
Give this place a miss.

My wife's family opted to make use of Roggeland for their quarterly outing. Finding the turn off to the farm was a bit tricky as the sign was extremely small, but we managed to find it and had a good day. The Roggeland Country House is an 18th Century Cape Dutch Masterpiece, set in the Daljosafat Valley, just North-East of Paarl. The Farm House has been declared a National Monument and Heritage site by the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA).
The farm has breathtaking natural scenery provided by the Drakenstein and Paarl mountains. I am told that sunrise and moonlit nights are mesmerising in this setting. There isn’t a shortage of activities to keep the guests occupied either. A delightful little swimming pool marks a corner of the property, and some horses and ponies roam about freely while guests enjoy meals under shady trees outside their cottages. The only bummer about the pool is that it is much too small to cater for the many visitors and some of the kids diving in causes danger to others swimming but no adequate signs warning them not to.
Meals – prepared in the kitchen of the manor house by the family matriarch, Aunty Doreyah, assisted by her daughter Wisaal – are a simple but delicious affair (steak and chips, butter chicken and puri, chicken curry and rice to name a few), and range from Cape Malay to Indian. “It depends on what people want,” says the Aunty. They have a selection of finger foods, pastries, and desserts available, including their famous Paparoti bun, and their signature Savoury Platters. All served with the best freshly ground Brazilian coffee and the best Sri Lankan Ceylon tea.
The accommodation at Roggeland is a work in progress and the owner. Majied rates it as a one and a half star (“No TV, no air-conditioning, no wi-fi”), but the hospitality more than makes up for it. What was of great interest is that the furniture is all fine handmade and that they also sell of those handmade products.
