We stayed here because it was reasonably priced and we needed somewhere to stay between our gorilla trek and volcano trek. The room was fine and what we'd expected for the price. Unfortunately - and to be fair, beyond the control of the hotel - there was no electricity when we arrived which meant we ordered and ate half our meal in the dark. However, I had hoped that with the return of the electricity, we would also get hot water, as the manager had suggested... we had no hot water the whole time we were there, so that meant two very very cold showers which wasn't great after all the sweat and dust of the trekking. I spoke to the staff and to the manager and I suggested that perhaps a discount on our stay or our meal or even just a free drink might be reasonable compensation. I wasn't complaining unduly, I don't think. However the manager said that the electricity issue was beyond his control, which is fair, and that if I waited for a few hours I could have a hot shower (this would have taken me well past the check out time), and that he wasn't prepared to offer us any compensation, not even a drink. The room was comfortable and clean-ish. On the plus side we asked for our breakfast to-go on one morning and they gave us a huge and very tasty meal which was ready to pick up at 6.15am as promised. The food in the restaurant is good value. The hotel felt very safe too.…
This place is a good place to stay whilen one is visiting Goma. The rooms are clean, the environment is green and full of gardens. One of the few places you can find hot running water. It is centrally located close to all major Goma institutions. The staff is courteous and respectful. The food is descent but could take a long time. I will strongly encourage any body who is in Goma for a visit to consider staying here.
Like others budget accommodations in the area, you can expect power outages, and depending on the room you may not get much hot water for showering. Overall, the rooms were kept clean, and I would recommend using the mosquito nets, especially during the wet season. Free wifi was provided although went in and out due to the outages of electricity from time to time. The food at the Bungwe restaurant was good but order well in advance of hunger setting in as it normally took 1.5-2 hours for food to arrive at the table after the order was placed. Definitely get the breakfast, eggs, omelets or crepes, toast, tons of fresh local fruit, and coffee/tea.
