Terrible location. 100% mis-leading. Not a weekend getaway type spot. Only 5 rooms and not a boutique hotel as it leads you to believe. No on site bar. No choice in meals. No views, nothing to do. Poor service (although Nadia tries). Paul does nothing. Left to navigate 7km through township to get to where we needed to. Décor does not match pictures, now clutters and scruffy. Doors don't lock. Gardens not as beautiful as pictures make them seem. Never ever again
After our very warm welcome we asked the lady in charge if it would be possible to have dinners there. Also normally not she prepared for us a lovely meal. The rooms are very nice, super clean. The breakfast was amazing. I recommend to use gps coordinates in your navigation, then it's easy to find.
I usually do my homework before I book a place, so I was in Pretoria from Jhb and decided to drive to the finches to go see it before making a booking for 20 people ahead of an upcoming event in the area. Exhausted as I was, got to the gate rang thr intercomm which was answered by some unpleasant woman who refused to open for us because the office was closed!! I could actually hear them in the background asking each other what time it was, this was just before 5pm. Wow! I thought this was a serious business, so does it mean that if you booked online and arrived after check in time they won't let you in. They didn't even open the gate for us... appalling service, I can only imagine how the actual stay is there... So sad, they're certainly not worth the effort nor investment!!!
We wanted to visit the lion park in Limpopo and decided to structure a weekend away in the area. We booked at The Finches Nest on booking.com. Looked superb from the website. A couple of days before we were set to go i get a call that it's been cancelled although i received confirmation in writing. I argued this and eventually Mogapi the owner miraculously arranged for us to stay after it being fully booked. We left the Friday morning which was a holiday. Our Garmin led us to an informal settlement and wanted to take us on a dirt road. If you read the website it says it's a true South African experience. But really?? 😨 We phoned Mogapi and she did not deny the location of the so called venue. But we were afraid to go further. Stuck out like a sore thumb. There were no signs to the venue. The website tells another story of white weddings and gorgeous surroundings. Nothing near to that in sight. Mogapi operates under MMI Holdings with several underlying companies. A scam i believe. I still can't understand this though ... the cancellling then agreeing for us to come through. Fortunately we had not paid yet, i believe this might have been a relatively new scam being tested. For some time the venue was under the radar but i see it back again. MMI Holdings is actually another well known company which she is trying to claim credibility for. My sons were so disappointed, we spent a whole day driving and it was wasted. There was no way we would've ventured further. Next time we do our homework too. …
