I cannot think of a negative thing to say about our night at Silbury House. We had a dual aspect room in this lovely, historic, atmospheric old Manse with a view over the Avebury stones. The room was sympathetically decorated in an understated but stylish way. Lots of hot drink and big bottle of milk in fridge to make hot drinks. No TV- which we loved. No en suite but a personal bathroom, suited us fine. 10% off meals at the pub opposite. There are only three rooms let out and it was really quiet and peaceful. We only met Donna briefly as she has a shop just over the road , Steve was lovely and mega helpful. No hot breakfast but a HUGE breakfast pack left in fridge with rolls, cheese, meats, jam, croissants and lovely fruit bowl; which we preffered to the hassle of waiting around for breakfast. We stayed in several other places on the Ridgeway( see other reviews of The Inn with the Well at Ogbourne, The Rose and Crown at Ashbury, The Greyhound at Letcombe and Foinavon at Compton; but Silbury house was our overall favourite…

Steve and Donna were so nice and the rooms and house were so boutique and well-decorated and in great condition! We had to leave early in the morning and Steve kindly prepared to-go brekkie. You can see the Red Lion from the window while laying in bed! A must-do if you're in Avebury. Wifi worked great!

We arrived far too late in the evening because of traffic conditions. Donna and Steve welcomed us in The Red Lion, just across the street. Such a warm welcome, so much understanding, and a treat of beers too. The room was great with a spacious (shared) bathroom. The vegan breakfast was surprising, but very tasty: good cereals, yoghurts and jams. Nice cinnamon bun. Good advice on walks in and around the village.

Silbury House is a beautiful building set in magical Avebury, we were made so welcome on our first visit here, it felt like a home from home. Donna & Steve are the perfect hosts, nothing is too much trouble. I have stayed in many b&bs in the area previously & I won't stay anywhere else except Silbury House now. Breakfast was sumptuous & delicious, the rooms are lovely, light & in keeping with the stunning house & the location is just incredible. 5 stars all the way, I can't wait to come back again.
