The people are really nice but the room they gave us was probably the only one left and it was unacceptable for the price they asked ,which was the same as for the good rooms So in case you stay there be certain to book only the rooms of the top floor with balconies and view,

This was an ok place to stay, not the best. Very close to the nicest beach on Naxos, walking distance. For all the rest you will need to rent a car. About 15 min. by car to the main town Hora. Transfer from port was free, the son picked us up, the mother and son are helpful and speak English. Father doesnt speak English and just burped in our presence. They own a horse and a few dogs but in my opinion they are not looked after very well, maybe normal to Greek standards. The son took us to the car rental place and to Naxos horse riding club to show us the way, that was really nice. Shower was crappy, temperature and pressure changed all the time, really annoying. For the rest the room was relatively big with a beautiful terrace for ourselves. We paid 30 euro a night which we considered a good deal. The room was kept clean etc. All in all a good affordable deal if you want to be close to the beach. They will definitely make you feel welcome.

I booked this hotel after another hotel nearby wouldn't email or call me back. Although I LOVED this hotel, I don't think it would be for everyone. It is on a family-owned farm with goats, a horse, and a family dog. The elders don't speak English very well but their son does (if he's there). The best things about this hotel are the local family experience, the price, and proximity to Plaka Beach. The only bad thing is you're not close to town so you have to get a ride with the mother of the family or rent a car or buggy or bike. Also the wifi only worked on the balcony or downstairs in the common area. I can't believe how cheap it was. It was very clean and I paid the same price for a four person studio (that was all they had left). The family sits outside with other guests of the hotel and chat. They will make you coffee and they offered me homemade cake when I arrived. You walk a one two to minute walk on a path through their field to Plaka beach which is lovely and with few people around since the road doesn't go to the specific spot there. It's about 10 minute walk along the beach to a few restaurants and there's a taverna with decent food only a minute walk down the street from the hotel. They don't have breakfast but they will make you coffee if you ask and they take you to the market when you arrive so you can buy stuff to make your own breakfast. The mother took me into town one morning so I could rent a car and she took me to the hair salon where she cuts hair. She made me coffee and offered me some cookies and suggested that I go to a few car rental places to get the best price. One day I came home from the beach to find that the grandmother had cooked stuffed tomatoes and peppers and left a plate in my room for me! It was so awesome and such a nice touch. When I arrived, the son was about to feed the horse and he offered to take a boy that was staying with his parents so he could watch. They are just really nice, helpful people. If you don't want the slight hassle of having to schedule all your transportation with the mother (she's flexible), I would recommend renting transportation. Of course, it was so nice, I could see not even leaving the hotel and spending your days on the beach and eating from the grocery and from the local taverna. This place was awesome!

This place was oddly half the price of the all the other similar hotels we found. Our original hotel canceled last minute so we took a gamble on Vrettos. As there were no reviews of it online and the hotel’s own website did little to promote the place we were a little worried. The email exchanges between us were sort of vague, not helped any by the difference in language. (We later found out it was the family’s youngest son who was doing the emailing for the place.) But WOW did we luck out! Our ferry arrived to the island an hour later than our already late arrival (around 1:30am) but the matriarch of the hotel was still there in her vehicle waiting for us. She drove us the 5 miles south down the impossibly confusing dirt roads. It was pitch black and all the winding paths completely foiled our sense of direction and instilled an irrational horror-movie fear (no doubt exacerbated by the lack of sleep and food). But when we finally arrived the place looked charming, relaxing and loved-for. We were offered coffee, juice, toast, and watermelon and shown some recommended activities before being ushered to our room. From what I could surmise there were only 8 or 9 studios/mini-apartments on the premises. Ours was on the top/2nd floor and we had a clear view of the beach. All the rooms had a south facing window so you could see both the sunrises and sunsets from your balcony. As I mentioned in other reviews the wife and I are more allied with the backpacking/hostel style of travel so perhaps our demands aren’t so high but I honestly felt this was a clean and very comfortable studio by most anybody’s standards. We were offered rides to any destination we wanted (dinner in the towns a mile north or south of us, to the scooter rental place in the next town, into the port city for a day, etc) and for every gratuity we offered we were politely and firmly refused, even by the 16-year old son. What teenager turns down a few bucks?? Teenagers who help run an excellent seaside hotel in Naxos, apparently. They did not have a pool or breakfast (nor did they advertise it) but with the 40€/day we were saving, and the mere 3-minute walk to the beach, it was well worth the sacrifice, if you can call it that. This is not a 5-star hotel but I couldn’t find a single reason to give it any less than 5 stars on all the criteria above.
