Luxurious. Breathtaking. Picturesque. Peaceful. Relaxing. These are just a few adjectives to describe our overall vacation experience at The Point at Petite Calivigny.
Over the years, it is common practice that my husband and I visit several Caribbean islands in hopes of escaping the cold Canadian winters. Our preference for accommodation has always been an all-inclusive, adult-only property, preferably Sandals, and our favorite so far is Sandals Grenada. My husband immediately fell in love with this small, tropical, unspoiled island, so it's no surprise that we chose to revisit Grenada several times after. He wanted to experience more of the island’s community and culture. So, about a year ago, we started our search for accommodation that would permit us to do just that. This was a turning ‘point’ in our travel options. After weeks of research, we settled on The Point at Petite Calivigny and secured a condo unit a year in advance of our travel date. It was our first experience booking with Airbnb, and we were pleased that the process was seamless.
Grenada, also known as ‘Spice Island’, has a huge spice industry and is the world’s second largest manufacturer and exporter of nutmeg after Indonesia. The island also produces cinnamon, clove, turmeric, and ginger, just to name a few. It is also known for its lush botanical gardens, rainforest, beautiful beaches, and friendliest people. Unlike some of its island counterparts, Grenada has a very low crime rate, and its ‘genuine Caribbean Vibe’ makes it an ideal destination for those wishing for a taste of an authentic island experience.
Kelliann Waldron, the facility’s’ manager contacted us the previous day with self check-in instructions, as our flight was scheduled for a late arrival. Our friend Curtis Munroe picked us up from the airport, and we arrived at our destination 30 minutes later. The self check-in instructions were precise and made entering the facility effortless. As the gates opened, we immediately noticed the security cameras. The property was brightly lit, clean, and well manicured. Up to this ‘point,’ we were very impressed and already loving it! Curtis assisted us with our luggage.
Finally, we entered into our condo unit #12. It felt like home the moment we walked in. We were completely but pleasantly surprised with our accommodations. The unit was spacious, bright, and spotless and came fully equipped with all the amenities that would facilitate our stay. The furnishings and ambiance were spectacular. It looked exactly like the pictures posted on the website. We could hardly wait for the next day to unfold and discover all that this facility had to offer. So, after familiarizing ourselves with the place, we unpacked, showered, and retired for the night. The next morning, we woke up to the most stunning view. Our room overlooked both the ocean and pool area. Actually, the view’s vantage ‘point’ was afforded from every room in the unit. It’s only the first day, but we’re almost convinced that we’ve made the perfect choice for our extended stay in Grenada.
The accommodations, amenities, and view are noteworthy, but it’s the staff that makes this facility exceptionally unique. As the day progressed, we finally had the pleasure of meeting Kelliann in person. Kelliann is the marketing and facility manager, as well as our host and so much more. Her lovely demeanor makes communication effortless. She is a dedicated professional who is very knowledgeable and well equipped in her area of expertise. Kelliann provided valuable information and made recommendations on matters related to shopping, dining, and activities, all of which enhanced our vacation experience.
Later that day, we met Agie and Kelisha from housekeeping, as well as Lester, who oversees maintenance for the property. The staff is very friendly, respectful, and willing, provided assistance far beyond our expectations. It was a little over a week into our stay, before we had the pleasure of meeting the masterminds behind this beautiful development, both Dr. Christopher Ashby and his wife Aileen. Our chance encounter provided us the opportunity to express our overall satisfaction with both the facility and the community.
It’s about a 2-minute drive or 20-minute walk from ‘The Point’ to Le Phare Bleu Marina. It’s a small vibrant community within a community, with tropical cottage accommodations, laundry facilities, café, grocery, clothing boutique, hair salon, and so much more. But by far, our ‘sweet-spot’ was the Island Fever Tropical Tavern restaurant, located on the beach front. The delicious cuisine, friendly staff, and ‘authentic’ Caribbean vibe are what drew us back to the restaurant again and again.
So, what’s my ‘point.’
Well, this luxurious, boutique-style, low density facility is nestled in a charming, quiet community on the southern side of the island. It consists of 12 2-bedroom condos, with an additional 3, 3-bedroom villas. The units are complimented with contemporary furnishings, which are methodically and uniquely styled. Each condo comes with a full kitchen and laundry facility. This gated property has 24/7 security, and every unit is equipped with smoke and fire detectors. The gym, which is fitted with state-of-the-art equipment, is located on the south side of the facility and offers a stunning panoramic view of the ocean.
A little further to your left is a private, exquisite, luxurious, 80-acre property called Calivigny Island. It’s a lifestyle for the famous. In front of the property is another spot worth mentioning. Hog Island, recognised for its rustic and rugged landscape, is a small secluded spot with live coral reef and marine wildlife and is only accessible by water taxi or the footbridge.
Each morning, we had the option to sit on the veranda and enjoy a peaceful breakfast, a cup of coffee, or simply read a book. Whereas the evening affords magnificent sunsets, as we sipped on beverage of choice, and observe the selection of yachts and sailboats moored in the bay. Honestly, the view is breathtaking. We had full access to the property Waterfront, which is ideal for snorkeling and some swimming. Although there are no ‘private’ beaches on the island of Grenada, the Waterfront at ‘The Point’ is very secluded, and it’s unlikely to be accessed by individuals other than the guests.
It’s worth mentioning that we were also beneficiaries of high-quality service. We had access to free local telephone calls, robust Wi-Fi, streaming, superb housekeeping, concierge, parking, and pool, just to mention a few. A staff member is always available long after regular business hours. At the moment, there are no dining options available, but were please to learn that a state-of-the-art restaurant is currently in the process of being built, which would offer guests the luxury and convenience of dining on the property. The restaurant will be located on the north side of the facility and promises a spectacular oceanic view. A vehicle is essential since it’s about a 20-minute drive from the property to the city, and upon request, one can be arranged in advance of arrival. Otherwise, everything needed for a peaceful and relaxing stay is right on property.
It is of our opinion that this facility’s objective is to offer guests an accommodation where comfort, safety, and security are not compromised. Our experience at ‘The Point’ bear a resemblance to that of a close-knitted community, which is precisely the experience we were seeking on this vacation.
So, my ‘point is this! Whether you’re in search of an investment property for your winter escape or a vacation getaway that is not your typical resort experience, then maybe The Point at Petite Calivigny is exactly what you’re looking for. God willing, we hope to return again in the very near future, and we await with pleasure the opportunity to share our experience with family and friends. We are fully convinced that ‘The Point’ has been amongst one of our most memorable vacation experiences.
Thank you, Kelliann, Christopher, Aileen, Aggie, Kelisha, Kison, Lester, Leroy, and the entire staff, who made it all possible. We could not have done this without you!
See you soon!

We booked via British airways and weren’t quite sure what to expect as couldn’t find many reviews.
Prior to arrival we had communications with them which were very efficient and informative. They arranged a pick up from the airport for us and on arrival we were shown around our residence.
We had a 2 bed/2 bath residence with fully equipped kitchen with modern fittings and a dining table, a large seating area and a balcony with a stunning sea and bay view. All of the fixtures and fittings are of very high quality with a modern design.
There is no bar and restaurant on site currently, but we were driven in the house jeep round to the island fever tropical tavern for dinner on our first night. We also had a drinks complimentary package in the fridge of wine and beer.
In room breakfast is included and we had pre arranged the time of this prior to arrival. It’s a continental offering with a variety of food each day. It’s very generous!
We felt we had a very personal service, and everyone was friendly and helpful. If you need anything, I think they read your mind!
The pool has an amazing view and we had it to ourselves most of the time. There is a pool at the other side of the development and also a small man made beach area with a jetty for swimming and kayaking. There are some hammocks to chill out. They will take you in the jeep down because it’s pretty steep for walking, but it’s good exercise if you choose but they do have an on-site gym.
We had a vehicle which I recommend as not really any bars or restaurants you can walk to. There is a supermarket 7 minutes drive away but they offer a grocery service at a charge if you wish to self cater.
We found the driving fairly easy but took a taxi at night because you really need to know where you’re going in the dark. The drive to grand Anse / St George’s is 20-25 minutes.
We had a thoroughly lovely stay, and were well looked after. Great accommodation and stunning views.
