A very homely place to stay in a charming little Slovenian village surrounded by absolutely stunning scenery. The apartment was everything we needed it to be, the host was helpful and friendly and it was overall a wonderful and great value option to explore the surrounding area of Lake Bohinj.
This was a simple yet lovely place to stay during our trip to Slovenia as part of a group in June 2018. Stara Fuzina is a cozy and quaint village, with a small Mercator supermarket and a coffee shop/pub. Keep your eyes and ears open for local cows strolling the road, cowbells ringing! The surrounding landscape and scenery is simply breathtaking. Stara Fuzina is 1.5 km from Lake Bohinj, a twenty minute leisurely stroll on a pretty road. Despite our late night arrival due to a cancelled connecting flight (I strongly doubt I will ever fly Lot Polish Airplanes again), our host was awake to welcome us and help us settle in. We stayed in apartment #2, accessed by an extremely narrow and steep staircase that spiraled for the first couple of stairs. But we managed to get two large suitcases up without much difficulty. The apartment consists of a large airy main room, which included a small kitchenette, a small dining table, a couch and club chair, and a bed. One cabinet door revealed a small, half-size refrigerator, without a freezer compartment. There was a stovetop, oven, coffeemaker (Mr. Coffee type, not espresso machine, filters were provided), electric kettle, and small sink. There is a small porch off the main room. The bathroom with toilet, sink, and stall shower was spacious and functioned well, although enclosed shower stall was, you guessed it, small. Hot water for showers was plentiful. The bedroom housed a very comfortable double bed, flanked on either side by a night table with reading lamp. There was a narrow freestanding wardrobe closet at the foot of the bed. There was hardly any space in the bedroom aside for what was needed to navigate around the bed, but we only slept there, so it was fine. Bed linens were crisp and clean, but feather pillows were thin and skimpy. Extra blankets were provided. The two downsides to this apartment: it is located on the premises of a working farm, and the cows are housed in the barn directly across the narrow road. The bedroom window faces the barn, as does the door to the small porch off the main room, and the odor emanating from the barn was most definitely felt, as were the morning sounds of the cows starting their day. We became accustomed to this quite quickly, and took it in stride, but others might not be as flexible. The other annoyance is not exclusive to this property at all. Flies are a significant presence in Stara Fuzina, perhaps elsewhere in the area as well. In the above-mentioned pub/coffee shop, there are flyswatters on most of the tables! This is not a reflection of lack of cleanliness. Many windows and doorways in the village have a sort of curtain of fuzzy strips hanging in front of them, allowing air to circulate but discouraging the flies from entering. Unfortunately the bedroom window did not have this, although the porch door did. We had a delightful stay here with our group of fellow hikers, and cannot forget the magnificent surroundings and wonderful experiences during our first visit to Slovenia. We would happily return to Stara Fuzina, perhaps seeking a slightly more upscale accommodation, but this property served us well this time.…
We stayed in the 2 levels independent apartment of this farmhouse and we very much liked it. Even though we were only 2, the apartment has sleeping room for 3 people (probably 4 if you are with children). The apartment has a small kitchen, hot water, and heating system. Vogel ski resort is about 10 minutes drive. Ljubljana is 50-60 minutes away and the drive is very easy.
This is a working dairy farm in an absolutely stunning location. We had some wonderful walks from here and everything you might need for your stay is provided. It has a lovely homey feel to it and we would have happily have stayed for longer. There are no high-chairs or cots offered if you're travelling with small children so if you need one, bring your own. We managed without and the little one was fine crawling around the flat and sitting on our lap for meals. The shops are 2 min away and open on Sundays. You can have nice pub meals in the 'gostilna' close by. We would happily book again.
