We had what amounted to an apartment on the first floor, with a sitting area overlooking the bay and an extremely large traditional sleeping area. The food was largely freshly caught fish with added vegetables and (of course) rice. When we couldn't decide whether morning or afternoon boat trip on the bay would be best, we were offered two shorter trips at different times, which was lovely. Unlike the tourist boats that plied the bay, he stopped the engine frequently to allow us to take photos of the old fishing houses. The couple who run the homestay were as friendly and helpful as you could wish for. Although they spoke limited English, they made great use of an online translator to explain various things to us.
I have been staying there at Kagiya for a night and it has been very wonderful. The couple who runs the place has taken care of us with superb hospitality. The place is very beautiful and nicely decorated. They are very entertaining and conversational with lots of activities such as a cruise around the bay, fishing and origami. Only one night is not enough.
