I found Ranika by chance on the internet looking for a place in the Telos region. I could only make a telephone reservation with the help of a person with Bahasa Indonesia language skills as nobody could speak English. Once arrived on Hibala, I found a house in a breathtaking scenery directly in front of a right breaking wave (intermediate to advanced). The accommodation is run by a nice local family of whom nobody speaks a word of English nor can give information about the nearby surf breaks. There is the possibility to reach the waves in the area with a small boat which costs 700000 Rupiah a day (not per person). There is also a larger boat available which costs 1500000 Rupiah per day (ideal for groups). In my five days stay, I had plenty waves to surf.
If you are looking for an authentic, adventurous surf trip with no need for luxury, this is the place for you.
Here are a few more tips
-house has only the basics
-3 times a day mie & nasi. There is NOTHING to buy close by. Bring snaks, fruits, etc.
-electricity only from 7pm till midnight
-daily rate 500 000 Rupiah
-no Internet
