I really like this place, it attracts some great shows. They tend to be the level down from a full professional production you get at places such as Crown but very enjoyable. All seats are good seats but the one problem I have had for all shows I have been to is the Sound - it is crap. I think last weeks production of Mamma Mia was part equipment and part sound engineer but it does take away from an otherwise great night.

In 1938 in the between the wars era, the Regal Theatre was built; Subiaco was the heart of Art Deco, Since then, the Regal has evolved from boomtime picture palace to the heart of live theatre and comedy in Perth, from Dame Edna to KItty Flanagan, These days, the Regal is surrounded by bars and restaurants, places to hang out before and after the show.

Very Central theater that has been restored and used for musicals, ballet and live theater... All Seats on the main floor are great for viewing the stage and NO stairs!! The Upper balcony is only accessible by stairs.. NO lift... Across the street from the pub and several other restaurants nearby within walking distance.and some trendy shops.. Large foyer with Ticketex outlet....

The Regal Theatre was opened in 1938 as a 'picture palace.' It's an Art Deco masterpiece, which was transformed into a live theatre venue in 1976. It's a great space, intimate enough for appearences by stand-up comedians such as Dame Edna Everage and Kitty Flanagan. Many Perth people will recall being almost speared by one of Dame Edna's trade-mark "gladdies." For a city sadly lacking in live threate venues, the Regal is a boon. The Regal is held in trust for the people of Western Australia. The Regal is at the corner of Hay Street and Rokeby Road. Subiaco is an upmarket destination these days, the Regal is surrounded by bars and restaurants.

So beautiful! If the walls could talk! Historical building showing the old Subiaco heritage. We love the experience of going to the Regal Theatre

A beautiful old building accessible by train. Perfect for live theatre, musicals, dance. Cafe next door and bar upstairs. Quite narrow space to get past other theatre goers in the same row. Quite steep staircase to lounge. Staff really helpful to relocate disabled patron from upstairs to stalls. No lift. Surrounded by cafes and restaurants.

Drinks at AU$20 for a glass of wine. Couldn't get seats in the stalls. The A Reserve seats were SU 71.30 each plus a fee to download and print out your tickets at home or in your office

The Regal Theatre is a lovely building with many good facilities. Unfortunately, the sound system is terrible and completely spoils the show.

I have been here a few times. Wonderful venue. Small and intimate. Spacious enough seating. Good acoustics and PA system. Staff helpful and polite.

Does the Regal have booster seats for 9 year olds if a tall adult is in front or is the floor sloped to allow a clear view for a short person

The seating is sloped and angled quite well to allow a good view in between rows. I went with my 12yr old daughter (who is one of the shortest in her class) and we were in the second row of the balcony. We had no problems seeing the stage from there. Don't know about other parts of the theatre but it seemed to have a good layout for visibility.

Looking to books seats and wondered if there is a problem with visablity for row n as the whole row is vacant. I wanted premium sets and was offered 5 seats in row n but like I said the whole row was vacant where all other rows are full. The tickets are a gift to my elderly mother and mother in law.

Which are the best seats to get in the lower section, not too close that you can't see the whole stage, but close to get best view overall? Thanks Rosamund

Hi Rosamund
You get good views from about rows 6-10 from the front. I always choose to sit it the middle of a row rather than on the sides. I have also sat in the very first row and found the few was quite good.
It also depends on the act you are seeing. Rows 6-10 for a full production with lots of cast. Solo acts are ok from closer up.
Enjoy the show.
