An absolutely beautiful autumn display at the moment, just stunning.
We were not the only visitors disappointed to find the restaurant is still closed. Over a year now,…
Covid was cited as the reason, and the lease ending.
Sorry but that excuse has worn thin.
We had to travel to Blackheath to get some suitable food for our dietary needs.

Great place to spend an afternoon - the gardens are expansive, and it is so wonderful to wander around and see so many different plants. The birdlife is also beautiful, and the gardens are planned out wonderfully. Great place to visit, even on a grey day.

Gardens were lovely, on hillside so layered. Amazing view from Visitors Centre.
Map available from here after paying a donation, otherwise free.
Would have liked more labeling of the various plants.
The restaurant is closed, so only the kiosk (with outdoor undercover seating) had very limited type of food offerings. many pies, sausage rolls, chips etc. No healthy options such as sandwiches etc. Muffins on display were Woolworth's. Most disapointing considering the good bakeries around the Blue Mountains. Standard of food options need to be improved. Coffee was better than expected.

This is a great place to visit. You can spend as long as you wish wandering around the gardens. Plenty of places to sit and relax, whilst you take in the surroundings. Some of the walks are still closed to facilitate recovery of the trees following the terrible fires of 2019/20.

Staying at Kurrajong so a visit to this National Park is a lovely drive and well worth the trip.
Autumn colours abound, some Proteas out in flower, jungle paths I’d not been on before, succulents and ponds etc. hardly anyone there made it easy to walk around. I was surprised that it was free to get in.
I’ll return

These gardens are amazing and go on forever. You could spend a day here easily. They have 6 carparks so there is plenty of parking. Nice easy walking tracks and plants are named so you know what you are looking at. Some of the areas were marked off as closed due to the recent bushfires and the rain events, but there was still plenty to look at. Entry is free.

Free to wander at your leisure but for a more immersive experience book (at cost) a Saturday morning Nature Therapy Walk:
An opportunity to understand the forest more fully using all the senses. Fragrant hot tea concludes the experience.
As there is some pausing during the walk, suggest socks be pulled over trouser hems otherwise leeches may enjoy your presence too. Please don’t be put off going, just figure you want to try to avoid them.
There’s a small outlet for drinks/snacks near the Visitor Centre. The on-site cafe at present closed. Nearest cafe on Bells Line of Road is the Bilpin Bush Honey Cafe (Hive cafe). The family sized apple pie is a treat to take home. Great value too.

We have visited the Blue Mountains Botanical Gardens many times over the years. It is wonderful to see how it has developed. Going in different seasons brings varied experiences depending on what is in bloom. Due to Covid, the cafe is not open, but there is a kiosk for food and drink. We went to see the waratahs and the northern hemisphere plants, like lilacs, tulips and blossom trees, that were in bloom. In autumn, we will visit again for the color changes. We try to bring overseas visitors here to show them what Australia has in the way of flora. It was heart warming to see the surrounding fire ravaged areas coming back to life, although not much in the park was affected. This is a great place to bring families, but pushing a stroller might be a challenge in some parts as it is hilly.

Enjoyed our midweek visit here as there was less of a crowd and you could navigate the walking paths well. So many beautiful gardens to explore. Enjoyed our visit very much. Well kept and amazing that it was free to explore. Parking on site can be limited if there are crowds.
