Excellent place

Amazing Place to Visit. Went in Dec and it was too cold. But advise to start as soon as possible from place where you stay. Also carry substantial woollen clothes. Its too windy and chilled. Most important stay some time at the last point where the border is. You feel very patriotic and proud on our Indian Army. Salute to them and Big Thanks for protecting, guarding our border especially in such weather. Also should visit army museum which is on the way to Baba Harbhajan Mandir.

Nathula Pass is absolutely stunning!
The journey is beautiful and the destination is just heavenly.
Here are a few tips:
1. Plan your travel: Try and get a shared ride from Gangtok (maybe the hotel or a tour company). If you take a hatchback from Gangtok, you’re going to have to change cabs closer to the pass and get into a SUV which is shared. We had a great group (so no complaints) but it can be very expensive if you don’t plan better.
2. Start early: the sooner you leave, the clearer the view and better the journey. It gets pretty foggy in the second half so you can really see much. We left around 8.20 so we did had a brilliant view
3. Stay hydrated: to avoid the headaches and nausea, stay hydrated and carry chocolates. Do not plan a visit if you’ve been drinking through the night!

4. Washrooms! : The loo at Baba Mandir ( the loo much below the parking) is very clean. The ones at Nathula Pass were not very clean.

Lastly, please follow the instructions laid by our Army. Let’s be responsible citizens of our country 😊

Hope this helps!

Excellent roads maintained by Border Roads Organisation provide an amazing riding experience on a clear sunny day. This leads us to the most enthralling sites of the mountain range that separates India and China. Excellent management by Indian Army, considering the inter border conflicts. Needs lot of climbing in low oxygen environs, but really worth. At 4 + kilometers above sea level, with clouds below the heights where we stand, feels like heaven... Kudos to our soldiers braving the unfriendly environment here to help us sleep comfortably...

this place is not for everyone as we have to walk some up hill and to visit the indo-chinese border we have to climb some steps as it was in high altitude it would difficult to catch your breath and don't the recommend the place for kids they can't stand the cold. once we reach the top the patriotism in us will kick start once we see our proud flag hoisted and our brave soldiers standing guard it's a sight to watch. must visit no snow in october

Nathula Pass - Indo China Border -
November, 2021
It took almost 3hours drive from Gangtok, one needs to pay permit fees and get the permit for Nathula Pass. The roads are typically hilly roads - round and round so one should be careful about the food intakes. The roads are really good and the best part is the View / Scenery. After certain height the air will be thiner and the colder. After one point of time, you will be in the clouds and fog. Once you reach the Nathula pass, one needs to walk up the stairs only few stairs, not much strain. The only problem will be the heavy cold wind, upstairs there is a friendly Indo - China border, nothing much. One may skip this as a viewpoint, final destination is not much fascinating but the roads are really beautiful. Some checkpoints one might keep in mind while traveling to Sikkim, Gangtok.
Weather, Hilly roads so be careful about food intakes, Be nice and friendly to your car driver, Early to rise and early to bed, Sunrise - 05:00 AM, Sunset - 05:00 PM, so whatever day trip you plan go early and come back early. Check out the photos.

Nathula pass visit
out de 2021
We visited Nathula on a Sunday. Though it was raining, there were lots of cars and people. It was quite a arduous task to climb up the stairs, passing through a tea shop - We finally made it. With lower oxygen levels due to 14140 ft altitude, we had to remove the face mask for some time but finally made it to the top after 15 min of climbing the stairs! It was pretty cold but the climb was making us feel the hardship the soldiers in the border face!!

Any tourist going to Gangtok should definitely go to Nathula pass. the road from Gangtok to Nathula pass is very well maintained and it will take not more than 2.5 hrs to reach via Changu lake. The views from the amazing height while reaching are mind blowing and once you reach the place a feeling of Patriotism grips you. salute to our army to maintain such a difficult post.
A few people might feel a little bit uneasiness and breathlessness due to thin air , but take breaks while climbing stairs to avoid any such issue. But nothing to bother much. I will say that a trip to Gangtok is not complete without going to nathula
