I've been meaning to come here for years and finally made it, and I’m so glad I did
Colin opened up especially for me after I emailed him. He’s made this his life’s work almost and the effort shows. The details are amazing.
What’s more he’s a shop that any modeller would go gag-gar in!
Stop for a hour or two. You’ll love it

We saw the yellow road sign on SH2 so decided to call in. The entry is awesome with a path through a long tree covered walkway. We were greeted by a very friendly man who gave a short talk about the railway layouts and shop.

This is huge so allow plenty of time. It is also the only railway layout that we have seen where one can operate some of the equipment.

There are several scales on display from tiny to O Scale.

The shop us well stocked and and most interesting.

We really enjoyed our visit.

An intricate set-up of model trains, this elaborate complex of tracks and city neighborhoods offers kids and gown-ups hours of entertainment with individual controls of each train and the ability of moving them forward, backward, changing tracks, etc.

A huge layout to keep the parents and kids engrossed. Owner Colin is a friendly, helpful person who answers all questions in a pleasant way.

He operates a very complex layout, while chatting to visitors. He is also a mine of information on railway modelling.

There are also small displays the kids can actually operate themselves too.

Highly recommended.

Even if you're not a model railway enthusiast, you'll enjoy exploring this BIG layout of an imaginary town set in the English Midlands. Somehow, over 38 years while busy producing award-winning cheese from the farm's Jersey cows, proprietor Colin Davies has managed to lay over 300 m/ 984 ft of track for an ever-changing display of model trails from the 1950s through the 1990s, running past farms, cottages, factories, churches, rivers, harbors, even a mine and a quarry. There are marshaling yards, trestles, and about a dozen different stations. It's a delight to see, and you (or the kids, with supervision) can push buttons to make the trains run. It's fun!

The level of detail is quite remarkable, thanks also to the "landscaping" talent of co-proprietor and principal cheese maker, wife Biddy Fraser-Davies. The scenes of charming country cottages show her deft touch and sense of color, and they were my favorite part of the entire layout.

Because this project is constantly evolving, you'll find some parts under construction or awaiting it. There's a constant battle to clean away dust and burnish some of the older scenes, but even in their unrestored state, the scenes hold interest and imaginatively present a broad landscape of the fictional "Middleton" that evokes the roots of the Davies family.

The place is kid-friendly, with steps to help little ones see the main display, plus an interactive children's layout and even some wooden trains for the smallest tykes.

For modelers, there's a shop offering modeling supplies, as well as a decent selection of locomotives and carriages for purchase. We were happy to take a few home with us for our own layout.

And, really, what could be better than combining trains and cheese?! It was quite wonderful to sample Biddy's wares while there, and we also brought home some of the delicious Cwmglyn farmhouse cheese.

It added up to a fine day, and one of the nicest ways to wile away time on a visit to this pleasant area of farms and beautiful green landscapes, with rainbows on the day we were there.

Recommend you give it a try if you're anywhere near Eketahuna. Nice place, nice people.

We’re not into model trains, but all enjoyed our visit here. This is the biggest train layout I have seen and time just disappeared as we checked out the detail. Also an Interesting shop with associated merchandise and a cheese manufacturing operation on the same property.

A bit off the beaten track but if you are a train enthusiast you won't mind the 25 minute drive from Masterton to see this great set up. If you happen to be passing on highway 2 then its easy to pop in and if you are not into trains then there is always the cheese!
A great layout and selection of trains complete with model shop if you need to add to your collection. The homemade cheese is very nice too and you can get to visit the cows that produce the milk as well. Overall a great place to visit.

I was there for the cheese only but it was an amazing set up for model rail enthusiasts. There was quite a bunch of chaps playing with the kit. I purchased a NZ railway themed tea towel as a gift for a friend. There was a lot of other stuff for sale relating to railways, too.

My son loves the train and Biddy and Colin are fabulous. While he watches the trains and runs some himself, Biddy and I have time for a catch up
