A working piece of history
ago de 2020
This is a working piece of history lovingly restored by Paul and Dawn.
A bit tricky to find but set in an idealic spot, so well worth it when you get there.
We are from Dobcross in UK and to see a Dobcross loom lovingly restored and working after 120 years is amazing.
The quality of the products they produce is superb, so if you just want a blanket or scalf check out their shop in the village.

Gracias Paul y Downe!!! 😘

We only discovered the studio on the penultimate day of our trip to Gaucin. So glad we found it. The most beautiful throws and scarves. And a very warm welcome. Can't wait for chilly nights!

New outlet in the village of Gaucin
jul de 2019 • Casais
Visited Paul & Dawn in the outlet in the village. Having visited the fabulous mill a couple of years ago, it was great to see the wonderful blankets and woven products made from a variety if high quality wools. I have purchased 2 blankets one local wool and the latest purchase an alpaca wool blanket. Both will last many years. Looking forward to visiting again soon.

Warming woollens in Gaucin
jun de 2019 • Casais
We have visited Gaucin a few times. This year we were lucky enough to visit the showroom of Lanas del Rio in town. Their woollen products are beautiful. Many various, creative colour ways and many different finishes. We bought scarves and a blanket. We also passed time speaking with Dawn who was so friendly and shared lots of details about the process and their adventures in bringing these beautiful products to life. What a special place. Don’t miss a visit!

How lucky we are to have this wonderful wool mill on our doorstep. If I was a visitor I would have to buy another suitcase to fill it with gorgeous throws, rugs, blankets, wraps and scarves. The quality is outstanding and the owners are charming and welcoming.

SO worth a visit!
out de 2018 • Casais
We visited the mill today and left with two bags of gorgeous woven products, including the softest cashmere blanket! Ahhhh! I managed to finish up all my gift shopping here. This is not your usual ticky-tacky tourist crap; these are items that will be kept for years.

Paul and Dawn were very accommodating and we had a wonderful tour. Although I only emailed this morning to see if we could stop in (short notice!), we were warmly welcomed this afternoon and shown around the beautiful restored mill, with a loom demonstration and a fascinating explanation of the whole weaving process. The looms themselves date to around 1905 (with restorations since), were shipped from Yorkshire, and are amazing pieces of machinery. I loved seeing some of the the various colourways Paul has come up with for the weaving.

The mill was a derelict shell back when they bought it, and the restoration job they have done is amazing. Such a beautiful property and building! The newer showroom is also lovely. If you want a really special gift for someone back home (or yourself), pick out a blanket, shawl, scarf, throw... there are so many exquisite pieces to choose from, at different price points, all well-priced for such quality weaving.

The drive into the mill itself takes you along a winding, scenic track. Paul's directions are spot-on, so you will have no trouble finding the place. The track is driveable by ordinary car. They also have a shop in Gaucin selling their wares.

We had such an enjoyable visit. Kudos to this couple for creating such a special spot, and a fantastic business. One of the highlights of our trip to Spain.

PS: They also have the most gorgeous, uniquely-marked cat who is as wonderful as the mill. She was rescued as a kitten and serves as the mill meeter-greeter. A little bonus for you cat lovers!

A hidden gem
jun de 2018 • Casais
To visit call the Mill and arrange a suitable time, which was very easy.
Having driven 3km off road down a really beautiful track we found Dawn and Paul's Mill. We then were given a very educational tour of the Mill. Incredible to see such an old loom in action having been transported all the way from Yorkshire. What gorgeous (and irresistible) throws, rugs and much more to see.
Highly recommended.

Quelle belle production!
