We had a great time during the Pinzie at the Plaza tour with Hannah on Friday. She was upbeat and great with information about the surrounding area, history, and even information on the nature around Santa Fe as well. Definitely recommend!

Our family took the Pinzie at the Plaza tour with Hannah. She did a great job of mixing historical information about Santa Fe with some great scenery of the surrounding area.

We almost feel bad giving them an "average" review given how nice Sue, the lady who answers the phone was, and how hard our guide tried. However, we also wanted other travelers to know the truth and choose their tour company accordingly. We chose this company for our private tour because it was recommended by our hotel.
The guide arrived on time for pick-up and was polite. However, you should probably fact check some of his stories and numbers (we did and it was inaccurate). During a hot day tour, he only offered us bottled water once and didn't make sure we have enough water during the walk. Our son was dehydrated. My wife wanted to stop at Rio Grande Gorge Bridge for pictures, but the guide told us that we wouldn't have enough time. It turned out that we had about 30minutes to spare at the end of our trip (and so we wasted about 15 minutes driving around Santa Fe to kill time). He was a very nice guy so I do feel bad giving this review, but like we value the opinions of other travelers, we felt obligated to share our experience about Santa Fe Mountain Adventures so the readers are fully informed.

Hello ExploreTheWorld196. I am sorry you opted to give us an average review on TripAdvisor even though on the feedback form, which we ask all of our clients to complete after each outing, you rated our guide, Mark, "Exceptional". The only comment you made otherwise on the feedback form was that perhaps the 6 hour Taos tour was not appropriate for a 3 year old, which only you as parents can determine. Incidentally, we did not charge you for your 3 year old although we did provide what you requested as lunch for him - rice crackers.
Mark is one of our senior and most knowledgeable guides and he has consistently received great feedback from our clients. Having said that, there are mistakes that he made on this tour with you. First, he should not have taken you up Pilar to the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge. That is not part of our normal 6 hour Taos tour. He did tell me, however, that he offered to stop and you said, after asking for the photo break, that it would not be necessary. He also told me that he did inadvertently flip flop the depth of the gorge with the span of the bridge, which I agree is an error but one that most visitors would not focus on.
At Taos Pueblo, Mark should have carried extra water in his backpack and offered it to you and your family. This is something we tell all of our guides to do since we do live in a dry climate and it has been particularly hot this late spring/early summer. I apologize for the fact that he did not consistently tell you to hydrate yourselves. We will do better to inform all of our clients that they need to carry water and ask for water when needed, just as we will instruct our guides that they always need to have and to offer water to our clients. Mark did tell me that, at lunch, your son did not want to drink his milk nor to have any water that was offered to him.
On your last point, I believe Mark did drive through Tesuque on the way back into Santa Fe and showed you the Acequia Madre neighborhood that still has an unpaved road - something that is unique for a town that is the capital of New Mexico. We are addressing this with Mark even though, in his mind, he modified the tour to best accommodate you. He should have stopped at Taos Plaza and walked around the shops with you instead of driving by the Hacienda Martinez in Taos, the St. Francis of Assisi Church in Rancho de Taos, and then through Tesuque. We do customize our tours whenever needed but it should be done in consensus with the client. Mark and our other guides will be clearly told that they will have to offer the standard tour unless the client requests a change in the itinerary.
We hope you enjoyed your visit to Santa Fe.

Did a group tour 2 different days. The first was of the Picuris Pueblo and Santuario de Chimayo. The second day was a walking Tour of Santa Fe. Our guide, Tom Gallegos, was friendly, professional, and extremely knowledgeable. He made our group at ease and was very accommodating of what we wanted to see on the tours....great job...I highly recommend! Elizabeth

Had a limited time in Santa Fe so wanted to get a general historic overview of the old town. Our guide Scott met us right on time and took us places we hadn't expected. He had a very good knowledge of the town history, architecture and events.
We were free to ask questions even about things that weren't part of the tour but had been puzzling us about the old town and life. Great Time and tour wasn't rushed at all.

We are not really “tour” people, but we took this tour somewhat unexpectedly on our first day in Santa Fe and it has been a highlight of our visit. For fans of Pinzgauer military vehicles, it is a “must do” just for the ride. But our guide, Hannah, made it much more special with her in depth knowledge of Santa Fe, it’s history, plants and art scene. The tour included a ride up to a mountainside overlook, a stop at a glass blowing shop and lots of “insider” info about where to go and what to do while in Santa Fe. Highly highly recommended, in short!

We did the Diablo Canyon tour. Our guide was very friendly. If we had to do it again, we would pick a different tour. Diablo Canyon is somewhere that you can drive to yourself. The jeep ride was not especially scenic, so driving ourselves would have been a better option for us.

What a great tour! Georges navigated the Swiss off-road vehicle (Pinzgauer) safely to the Diablo Valley. Lots of fun and quite an adventure. Get the longer your, absolutely worth it.

Participated yesterday in a pilgrimage walk to Chimayo, a huge Good Friday tradition in New Mexico. It was a great trip. Sue did a really good job of communicating with us so we knew what to bring. The trip was beautiful, and Georges was very friendly and knowledgeable. Everything was really well organized. I would definitely contact them again about a future activity and recommend them to anyone visiting the Santa Fe area.

Mark led us on a Pinzgauer tour to old Route 66. Extremely knowledgeable. Great way to get out of town and walk history. We did this Christmas Day - blankets, water and granola bars provided. Stops for photos. Included stop at the petrogylphs.Pickup and return to the hotel near the Plaza.

Do you offer a trip to Ghost Ranch/tour there, which starts in Santa Fe? I will be in Santa Fe without a car!

Good morning, Bonnie. Yes, we do offer tours to Ghost Ranch which are called "Taste of O'Keeffe". You're welcome to look at our website, under scenic tours, or to give our office a call for more information. We do pick up from your hotel and could take you to the Abiquiu/Ghost Ranch area. Thanks! - Sue

Looking to go on a ATV tour. Does anyone know of any good ones to go on?

Hi Freddy. We don't have ATVs for our clients to use but we do offer tours in our Pinzgauers. If you would like to rent ATVs in the area, you'd have to head north of Santa Fe to Red River where there are a few companies that offer ATV rentals. Enjoy your trip to New Mexico! - Sue

Hi, I am going to be in Santa Fe Sept 21-24th. I would like to know what a tour for two people has to offer, what days and times are offered and what would be to total cost. Staying at the La Posada de Santa Fe. Thanks.

Please feel free to call us at 505-216-9161. Even if you don't book a tour with us (Santa Fe Walkabouts), I'd be happy to give you some information about the Santa Fe area. There are definitely places you can visit on your own, or with us - Bandelier or Pecos Ruins (for Native American history), or Ghost Ranch/Abiquiu (if you like Georgia O'Keeffe's art). Enjoy your visit!
