We hired a private guide for this lovely museum and boy were we disappointed. He barely said 2 words unless we asked a question. He seemed totally uninterested in what he was showing. And when we called the head of the museum to voice our disappointment, she also was completely uncaring, and said only "I'll take it into consideration." Really? Thats your idea of customer service? The museum itself is so terrific but this "guide" completely ruined it for us. So many details missing, no enthusiasm, no story.

This is an explanatory movie and tour of the home and grounds of a Jewish family that spied on the Turks for the British in the first part of the 20th century.
I'm so glad I got to see it and you will be too!

This museum is a well preserved home of the nili fighters. The exhibits and short film were very informing and interestin. Unfortunately the place has too many stairs making it difficult for elderly and disabled to get the entire feel for the place. Also seats in film area are old and not comfortable. I guess you get what you pay for. Would not recommend for people with walking difficulties. The place is beautiful and garden well kept.

Visited the day the last Aaronsohn sister was being buried in the 1980's. The line was long, but moved fast. My husband was behind me on the line, I was talking to him, when he didn't answer I turned around, and Prime Minister Menachem Begin was behind me with 2 bodyguards! He was very pleasant, said hello, and we proceed ahead moving through the house, to where her body was. The museum was very informative, and it was worth the trip there. It was in the Summer time.

This is a fascinating piece of history about the NILI spy ring in the First World War. A group of young people, led by siblings of the Aaronsohn family, set up a spy ring to report on Turkish troop movements, and pass the info to the British Army in Egypt. A complex story, and the heroine, Sara Aaronsohn, was captured by the Turks, tortured, and managed to commit suicide. The family house is the museum, and it is well worth a visit. But the story as related in the display says nothing at all about the controversial nature of their activities. Not all the residents of Zichron Yaakov, and not the Jewish leadership of the time, approved of their actions - because they were terrified of provoking the Turks, and because the early bourgeois farmer-pioneers of Zikhron were disliked by the 'second-wave' socialists. The story is told in a book by Hillel Halkin. However - Zikhron is a great place, with a nicely restored main street, and several other buildings of interest. Worth a visit!

The Museum tells the story of the Aaronsohn family and the efforts to help overthrow the Ottoman Turks by helping the British. Even though there are guided tours in English there weren't any the day we went as there were so many school groups going through the. Museum.
