I cannot say I have ever been in a place like this! What a fun experience and found a couple of cool treasures. Definitely make sure you have time to browse...

What an amazing find! So many customes to look at and to rent. Such a fun place to explore! There was a vintage clothing area that had many choices. Clothing was well organized and well priced.

The upside is that you can find amazing deals on some amazing clothes - both menswear and women's. The downside is that you do have to *find* them - there is a lot of dross hiding those golden nuggets.

Our family of four headed out to the Garment District on a recent trip to Boston in search of some fun vintage clothing at good prices. What we hadn't quite anticipated was that it would be a three hour tour (...a three hour tour..) through rack after rack of miscellaneous items. The men died out in about an hour and a half but the women pressed on.

But I can't really complain. We bought a ton of stuff at *very* reasonable prices and walked away very happy. I strongly recommend shopping here.

This is a fun place where you could spend a lot of time. On the ground floor is a room with a huge pile of used clothing that you can paw through and buy for two dollars a pound.

Upstairs are men’s and women’s clothing. Shirts and blouses seemed to be arranged by type and color, rather than size, which makes finding the right section a little confusing. You have to look for the size on the garment label. Pants were hung by waist size. There are also vintage clothing racks plus accessories, shoes, and even wedding gowns. The store is large and neat.

There’s also a big selection of costumes which I, unfortunately, did not have time to visit. This is a good place to look for bargains. Just be flexible. If you're set on one particular item, you may not find it.

This place is wicked!!! There's three floors to wonder around & go through, so don't go in a hurry! They managed to keep everything very organized, so it's easy to find what you are looking for if you have your mind set.
The bottom floor is literally a huge pile of clothing that you pick through and pay per pound (WHAT!) I have not had that much time to invest, but I have seen many people leave with large bags of stuff.
The main floor has a costume section with tons of fun stuff-I bought a set of fake boobs because you never know when you might need to bust them out (haha). Then you have racks dedicated to everything you could think of. Denim coats? Got it! Sun Glasses? A whole wall! Suites, shoes, fanny packs-Literally something for any occasion.
The top floor is where you can find the vintage area which is set up in sections as well. They have vintage dresses, bathing suites, purses, moo-moos (remember those?).
It's just a really fun place that may or may not be overwhelming the first few times you go in. It also doesn't kill your wallet-everything is very reasonably priced, if not cheap! I would say, go in there with an open mind the first time & go through the stuff!

I was there on Saturday. The Garment District sits close to the technology businesses. We went there to find Levi jeans before heading to the Levi store in the mall. We found 4 pairs at $12 per piece. The exact waist and length size my husband needed.

We met 2 groups of people who were looking for 70's clothing. Also, another group who were looking for 80's clothing. We had so much fun with these groups who were experimenting with different combinations. Every person was able to find an outfit to wear for under $25.

My favorite combination was the couple who dressed like "Urban Cowboy" couple, Sissy (Debra Winger) and Bud Davis (John Travolta). We were glad to help with finding the Wranglers.

We also assisted a young person who was going on a job interview this week. We found a nice outfit for $30 which included shoes.

Our experience at The Garment District is that the staff was professional, kept the dressing areas clean, the clothing racks were well stocked with perfect store signage and checkout was without issue.

Great store with second hand, costumes and vintage clothing. Clothing from all different eras that I had never seen before. Reasonably priced, in good condition.Fun experience to try on the clothes and you never know what you will walk out with.

excellent used and vintage clothing store, well worth the trip. clothes are clean, organized and generally in very good condition. the pictures on this site dont do it justice, the second floor has rows and aisles of clothes sorted by decade, gender, occasion etc. also has a full costume department for rentals and purchases. i got ywo very good mens sportcoats (one a hickey freeman) for $40 total, wife got an outfit for an 80's themed party at her office. the womens vintage section is simply remarkable, some items would ahve cost hundreds when new.

This place was worth the two trips on two days, plus in the rain, and walking many blocks to get to! It is a two level building with two different shopping environments. Downstairs is a combined costume store and $2.00 per lb. (As of August 2015) clothing store. You literally walk into a open room with piles of clothes on the floor, grab some plastic bags and start digging through the piles! It was so much fun! The only downsides are the clothes can be filthy and there are no fitting rooms, but you can try on creatively there if comfortable or in the tiny restrooms. What a deal though! As my title states: it's a thrift store fanatic's dream!!!!!

Seriously, there was some cool items to be had bit when it's well over 80° inside and there's only fans blowing the hot air around, you lose the ability to shop.

"By the pound" sounds cool until you see the piles and piles of mess on the floor. Upstairs was labeled and neater, but the real vintage gems are surrounded by a sea of 80's oddities (notice Members Only rack, which had me howling). Still, I can't imagine a person in need of cheap clothing our loving a beaded skirt from the 20's not loving the place.
