I wouldn't call this a "chocolate workshop". There was zero explanation of any activity that the kids were doing and no information was given. Fast directions were given for each activity and in between the 30-second directions, our "instructor" was busy helping other customers, checking customers out, making milkshakes for other customers etc. The kids got the chocolate, but there was nothing this class offered that made it worth $30/kid.

We were in yesterday afternoon and the person working (I believe she's the owner, middle aged with curly blonde hair) was exceptionally rude and unwelcoming. She seems to treat everyone who walks in the door as if they are going to shoplift or break something.

Our young son was exploring some merchandise and we were about to drop some serious cash for some overpriced "squishies" and chocolate, but after experiencing her attitude we left.

It's a store with toys and candy, so if you don't like kids, you might want to think about going into a different line of work.

As far as I know, this is the only candy/chocolate shop in Manhattan that is kosher.
Chocolate works has a huge wall of candy by the pound, a wonderful selection of chocolates, chocolate in novelty shapes and the machine that fills tubes with flavored sour sugar powder. The shop is very kid friendly and the employees do not mind if there is some spillage.I take my grandchildren to Chocolate Works for a treat on Friday when they come to Manhattan for the weekend. Highly recommended.

This is a great activity for kids who love chocolate -- even teenagers can get a kick out of it. The activity is well-organized, with smooth transition from one spot to another while the store is open for business. It isn't so cheap for one hour ($25 per person), but you do get to take a nice amount of chocolate home that the kids worked on. And it is a fun, different type of thing to do. Plus, be prepared to buy additional chocolate -- there is a wonderful and very delicious variety!

I recently purchased a Living Social for a "Chocolate making" class for two. I normally do my research before I purchase a deal and I should have with this but I didn't. I was under the impression I would be learning the art of chocolate making however that was not the case. Instead we poured melted chocolate into a mold, dipped some marshmallows and strawberries in a fountain, and put some oreos and graham crackers on a conveyor belt to be covered in chocolate. It was cute, much more for kids than adults, and I'd say I probably got my money back by being able to take these products I "made" home because they probably would have cost about as much that I paid for the deal. My issue mostly was with the title "chocolate making," it was more of a chocolate dipping class, I learned nothing about how the chocolate was made or where it comes from so I felt the title of the class was deceiving.

The shop itself is cute, candy lines the walls, plenty of chocolate items. I bit pricey but it is the Upper West Side, so not surprising.

While most New Yorkers are walking to this place we were driving around from out of town and found a parking spot right out front. 2 adults and a gaggle of cranky kids. For us it was a Willy Wonka experience. There's what we used to call the "penny candy" section. And it's an entire wall. On the other side of the store is just about everything covered in chocolate. Grab a bag and start filling. My friend was looking for some chocolate favors for a bridal shower and one of the employees, Deena, treated us like absolute royalty. My friend kept changing her mind about what she's was getting but Deena never gave the craziness a second thought. Maybe she was used to it. The kids kept themselves busy musing at the various candies and this is the kind of place where they will probably look the other way while you grab a sample. They're not going to let you take a handful but they were very kid friendly. They do classes and right in the store an employee was making some chocolate something so you can always hang and watch that for a bit. I would guess that most of the customers coming in either have a wicked sweet tooth or are looking for some party gifts because they have all kinds of little boxes, baskets, molds of shoes, handbags so you can throw together a gift basket while you're there. We will definately go back. Oh, and the floor was so clean I did eat off of it. Some candy dropped and I just picked it up and ate it. I hope nobody saw me.
