On our visit to Leesburg, we stopped into Morven Park to go for a hike. The grounds have a nice 1.2 mile hiking loop into the woods. It's a little steep at first but it is not too tough a hike.
The only issue was a couple of trees had fallen across the hiking trail and these trees probably should have been sawed apart and removed from the trail (we had to climb over them - there was no way around them).
As luck would have it many of the buildings, including the mansion were open and we got the chance to look in the mansion and one of the farmhand houses.
Overall a nice experience and a place to take advantage of on a nice day.

We enjoyed taking a guided tour of Morven Park mansion. The couple that owned the mansion beginning in 1904 furnished it with amazing items from around the world. I am so thankful the owners had set up a foundation to provide the public with the chance to see this amazing place. The grounds are beautiful as well. We also enjoyed the Carriage Museum located on the grounds nearby. Due to Covid, masks were required. You can purchase tickets online or at the mansion. It is recommended that you reserve a ticket online, but the day we went (end of August 2021), this was not necessary. This is located very close to the historic part of Leesburg, Virginia.

Lovely long drive to this grand stature mansion. Ample parking. House remains closed to tours. The carriage museum recently opened with limited days and times, unfortunately not open during our visit. Basically walked around and took a selfie with mansion as the backdrop. Stunning Greek Revival Mansion.

We visited the sprawling grounds of Morven in May 2019 and it was pleasant to walk around. The mansion and other buildings are attractive but were not open when we were there during the week which I knew from their website. We walked on the hiking trail but toward the end, the trail unexpectedly came to an end and we needed to scramble to get to another path on the grounds. Hopefully that issue has probably been resolved by now but it’s worth checking if the full trail is open before hiking. It would probably be nicer to visit when more flowers are in bloom.

Situated outside Leesburg is a mansion, an equestrian center and a carriage museum all worth exploring. Beautiful walking trails, acres of soccer and rugby fields, horse shows (check the schedule), and a sense of landed gentry life collected in a fox hunting and hound museum are all available. Our guide David Landslide in the carriage museum was a true professional as he gave us the backstory about each beautifully preserved carriage from a stage or road coach to an antique hearse to an impeccably restored fire fighting apparatus. The mansion’s rooms were perfectly preserved with original furniture and artifacts. Its kitchen, baths, library, dining room, and bedrooms allowed us visitors to peer into life as the one-term Virginia Governor from 1918-22 lived amongst opulence and grandeur. The $10 admittance fee for this entire experience is well worth it. For all the times we drove past this 1000 acre estate, we should have stopped and basked in its offerings years ago.

A wonderful mansion guided by the most amazing volunteer staff. On the weekends one of the staff is a librarian who loves giving tours. Her live of the history is obvious as you walk through the rooms. She shares the historical information as well as what her research has found during her cataloging of paperwork and other assets. Very interesting.
The grounds are nice, expansive, but not much to see. It's a two hour visit worth your time.

The tour guide was well versed in the history of the Manor - congenial and interesting. the Manor is grand in all ways - it's own Downton Abbey and of the same era! You will be dazzled with old world charm and decor. All the furniture, china, crystal etc are original and are well kept. You step back in time and luxuriate in a fantasy of life of leisure! worth the time and money to take the tour - also the carriage house is a gem of its own.

When staying in Leesburg, the “Visit Leesburg” center suggested a trip out to Morven Park. It was really an interesting look into the Gilded Age and seeing how the wealthy lived in turn of the century Virginia. A tremendously interesting life long collection of items are displayed throughout the house. Our tour guide was informative but not pushy like in some other museums.

Morven Park is beautiful! The grounds are fantastic and definitely worth walking around. The 45 minutes guided tour of the mansion is impressive with the number of eclectic pieces collected by the Davis.
Also interesting is the story about how his wife left abruptly after his death leaving everything behind to move in with her sister in Connecticut and never coming back to the mansion...

Yes! Morven Park is a very popular dog walking destination. Park policy asks that you keep your dog on leash at all times and that you pick-up and dispose of any waste. We hope you and your dog enjoy the Park!
