It is a large clean park. We stayed in our Motorhome n the campground, which has mostly shady sites. The reason my review is not higher is because there is no sewer hookup offered. Additionally, we never saw any staff, except at the gate at check in. However, having said that, the bathhouse was clean and has individual showers where you can lock the door for privacy. We were there for the scenery, but did see people hiking, riding bikes and kayaking. There was no Wi-Fi but I did have a strong cell signal on Verizon.

Overall it’s a nice park. Shady, beautiful river views! Even nice bathrooms. But the park staff and rangers absolutely ruin it. I mean I’ve been an adult over 21 years of age for a long time. And I totally understand the idea of not displaying alcoholic beverages in a family park. But having rangers drive slowly by continuously all day and stare at you. Or stop somewhere where they think you don’t notice them and stare at you with binoculars… I paid money to stay here and have at least a little privacy at my site. This is also the only state park in Texas I’ve ever been to that posts signs stating that “alcohol was prohibited ”… every other one says “public display of alcoholic beverages prohibited ”. Actually watched these trash individuals give a ticket for it, to a family that was fishing… didn’t even have music playing. They were more peaceful then we were… we had music playing. And that police officer act all tough while he was writing it… it was actually disgusting to be honest… We won’t be back. And if you like to enjoy a drink while camping or on vacation. A hard earned one after working your butt off at work, I would stay far away from this park. No respect for privacy or state laws outside of this place. (No I wasn’t fined or warned either, just don’t appreciate being watched non-stop.)

We stayed here 6 nights in Turkey Sink Campground; Site 63 -- best site ever! Gorgeous. Loved the park and the area. We never knew there was a Hill Country in TX. Had several short hiking trails and the Guadalupe River area was beautiful; great picnic spot too. We saw lots of deer. We also did the Honey Creek State Natural Area guided tour. It was really interesting and enjoyed the hike. Honey Creek was beautiful and we see why this area should most definitely be preserved and only allowed access via the guided hike. Sadly many humans have a way of "loving" nature to death and leaving trash behind.
Would definitely recommend this campground and state park.

We spent the day at the river. The river was beautiful! Be sure to bring water shoes and your own tubes. The river bed is very rocky and hard to walk on with bare feet. There are no tube rentals so be sure to bring your own. The picnic areas were very clean as well as the bathrooms and changing areas.

Spent a lazy afternoon at the state park. It’s clean and well maintained. It has a lot of picnic benches, would be a perfect place of picnic with friends

Nice pretty river unique scenes for the area. The cypress trees are so nice. Great birding in the park also for the Texas hill country around there. Good facilities. ..............................................................................................................................

Great access to the river. It was more wading than swimming but great for kids. I don't know if the water level is typically very high or not. The water is really clean. Plenty of beach area. Lots of trails but we didn't do any hiking on our visit.

We had such a wonderful day here! The staff members that we met were incredibly nice and very helpful. When asked about trail recommendations, one woman suggested the Curry Creek Overlook Trail. We are so glad we took her advice! It was a great trail with a variety of terrain and beautiful scenery. We hiked a few trails in the main park and in the Bauer Unit and there is definitely something for everyone here. The trails in the main park a far easier with wide, even pathways. The Bauer Unit is more for those looking for a true hike. Rough terrain and steep inclines abound in this area. As a bonus to this entire park, you can cool off in the river when you're done! It's very shallow and slow-moving. This was an absolutely beautiful park and we can't recommend it enough!

Recently went and can see how crazy this place could be in the warmer months. There is two parts of the park divided by the river. We went to the south part. It has most of the services. We enjoyed the picnic area and the bird blind. We also enjoyed a bit of a walk down the river and up to the scenic overlook. We also did a hike around the painted bunting trail. We talked to a park ranger for a bit and he told us the better hiking is on the north side or Bauer Unit. It is about a 30 minute drive to that area from the main area of the south. We didn't have time for it this trip but next time we will head straight there. We are enjoying the state parks and the reservation system. It allows you to know you are going to get in without having to drive there and then find out. We have a goal to go to them all and we will be back to this one.

What is the best spot for day visitors. Looking for picnic area as close to water as possible, preferably with both sallow and deep areas, maybe with a nearby jump spot or rope swing...We will be there very early just in case.

Anywhere along the river. Lots of picnic tables and you can walk along the river too.

Don’t have any idea, sorry. My wife and I were there for a day visit. Good luck finding an answer.
I would call the number on the State Park website for this park

There are grills at each table, nice distance between. Fishing licenses are required and they do not rent any equipment
How much does it cost for entry?

It shows restroom and showers. Cedar sage will be closed, through may. On the tpwd page, go to Guadalupe river state park. They will have alerts, if anything is closed or closing. They don't show to be. This is a nice, well maintained park.
