We were in town because we'd heard of the Santa Claus Bank Heist and knew this museum had some artifacts from this true crime.
This museum is a labor of love. It's packed with all sorts of local history, from prehistoric bones and artifacts to war artifacts and local mysteries. There are quilts, remains of an old log cabin, fossils, relics from the Spanish Conquest, old school desks, and more than I can list. We were truly impressed with their branding iron collection and the work they have done to bring this building back from the brink of being torn down. There's a lot of local pride and love of history.
I enjoy local, volunteer-created museums. This was a wonderful example of what can happen if people with a love of history and trilobites are allowed free reign to express their love.
As with all museums, donations are accepted.
