Amazing afternoon in Nov sunshine - fantastic guide Sarah. We got all of the extensive history of oolavogue, saw the gorgeous herringbone walls and found out how these stone walls were used in the famous rebellion.

I'll definitely be back!

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the homeplace of Father John Murphy, rebel hero of the 1798 United Irishmen's Rebellion.
There is a 30 minute video shown in the main House where a local expert explains the political situation of the day, British presence in Ireland and the stirrings of resistance. He also outlines Murphys part in local events around the Rebellion.
Next door Murphy's kitchen and bedroom are recreated in a thatched cottage, as are the pig sty, stablehouse and guesthouse. The milking parlour has old equipment in it like butter churns. It is like a museum of country life in parts. In the haggard there is a collection of ploughs, turnip cutters and the like.
I loved the exhibits on the old ways of life, siperstitiond and tradition.
There is a lovely garden of remembrance. When I arrived to it a game was a hare darting around in shock looking to get away from me! It's such a peaceful place.
The visitors centre has a cafe, toilets, sone souvenirs and a very helpful lady on the till. Plenty of parking out front.
Fantastic sense of history, I loved it.

Nice place to see.It was all restored built from the ground up . Many of the items were donated from the people living around the area . Not expensive to go in worth the money

i leave a bad review as after visiting the fabulous rebellion centre in enniscorthy and vinegar hill, we then drove out to find Fr. Murphy Centre. On the website it stated closes at 5.00p.m. We arrived at 4.20 to the centre, and as we got out of the car a woman rushed to the door of the centre, stating it was closed at 4.30. despite the website stating 5.00. we were hardly out of the car when she appeared. not very good impression for tourists staycationing. very disappointing and very rude lady

Disappointed it was so run down. No lights in the sheds. No audio visual show as mentioned in reviews. Would not recommend.

All locked up on arrival, tried to ring before we drove down. An answering machine saying it’s closed for whatever reason would have been nice

We arrived at the gates for the Fr. Murphy Centre on Thursday the 10th of September... we were super excited to visit, rang ahead to check if we needed to book a slot due to Covid Restrictions, no answer so thought it was busy- we arrived to find it all locked up... so disappointed. No sign on the main gate to even state why they were closed, or when they would reopen etc.
They definitely need a website to keep their future customers kept up to date, we could not find a website for them so slightly disappointing, another thing about not being able to find a website is you have no idea what the charge in is, but people mention a charge in their reviews... so it is confusing there aswell.
Hopefully we get to visit it again sometime!

You are charged to visit and it would benefit from a guide taking you round. There is a film show but it features one man telling the whole story - bit monotonous - and afterwards you are left to wander round the different buildings. I feel there is room to improve the visitor experience here.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Fr Murphy Centre - so much information there and the place is spotless. It’s a credit to the committee that runs it, and on a very low budget. The lady that greeted us ( I think her name was Catherine) gave us the whole low down of the Centre. She was so friendly and very knowledgeable about all the history of the area. The audiovisual was fabulous. We learned so much from it. We will certainly recommend it to any of our friends who will be in the Wexford area. It was lovely to see all the old farm machinery. This is where Father Murphy was living when the 1798 Rebellion began. Excellent 30 minute video details the events which thrust Fr Murphy into a leadership role with fellow Irish nationalists against British oppression. An important moment in Irish history. Current buildings date from 1840s. Brilliant restoration demonstrates why this holding was considered one of Ireland's best. Not a Disneyland type of attraction, but excellent depiction of real life in 1798. Good value for the 6€ fee and support of local nonprofit.
