If you're in the mood for a little drive in the countryside, this is your place. It's clean and spacious with good food and rustic charm. Patronized mostly by locals, the bartender let us know that we weren't a priority- a smile would have been nice- but it was a Saturday evening, and she was alone and overworked. All in all, we'll probably make the trip again.

The Wilderness Lodge near Milroy was a hidden surprise! Housed in an old Civilian Conservation Corps mess hall, it has been beautifully renovated and has an awesome menu...huge sandwiches on delicious rolls were the highlight of our lunch more than once! We also love their wings and desserts! Friendly service and moderately priced food made it even more attractive! Nice Tee shirts can be purchased, and games of pool in the bar can be fun!

We went to The Wilderness Lodge with a large family group of 24 people. We called ahead the day before and showed up at 11 a.m. when they opened. The seated us all together in one large room. It was warm and cozy on a cold day. They gave us 2 servers who took great care of all of our needs. Most of us had sandwiches, burgers, steak sandwiches, etc...a couple had meals. The food was so good. I had an NLV Burger (like a Big Mac (except one big burger) with fresh cut fries. It was GREAT! There was another large room right next to us with tables for smaller groups and then on the opposite side of the building a large bar. It is out in the middle of nowhere as the name implies and apparently, they get a lot of hunters. (I guess that explains the large amount of food they give you!) We did not go to the bar or sit over there but I was told they do have bands come in and they allow smoking on the bar side only. I was glad to be seated in the non-smoking side but it is an option. It was worth the trip and I would definitely return.

This is a great place for wings and a beer. Or two. The deep fried pickles are great too. It pretty far into new Lancaster valley but it’s a nice drive. The service is a little slow but the wait staff is very friendly and they keep checking on how you’re doing. Prices are good.

This is a tavern 17 miles from the nearest traffic signal. Somehow their bar food menu is worth the drive. Their wing sauces are very good. This is an old CCC camp building complete with dinner bell. If you are “in the neighborhood ... stop I’m.”

I had a business meeting with a person who wanted to meet at the Wilderness Lodge. I was sure that I might have been lost, and then a little ways beyond a quaint fire hall, a large sign pointed the direction. I loved the rustic outside, but the inside was more than I expected. Again a rustic log look with modern amenities. I met my person, and we sat down to enjoy a great meal. This place has banquet rooms, small rooms for gatherings, outdoor patio, and a great bar area. The food is well-priced as well as the drinks. Yes, I will return, and Brandi you did a great job of showing us around and being our fantastic hostess. I'LL BE BACK!!!

We had to make a U turn after we drove past...we were staying at Reed's Gap Campground and didn't realize you need to bring your own firewood. So we thought maybe someone local would be selling it. We didn't find any wood but found the Wilderness Lodge instead. We stopped in for a couple of beers to drown our sorrows of not finding any wood and ended up having a great conversation with the bartender and enjoying the afternoon in a very unique place. Next time we will have to try the food. The restaurant portion was packed and people were coming in by the car load, so the food must be excellent, just like the atmosphere.

I thought we were in the middle of no where since I'm from out of town, but what a surprise when we got here. We had a grilled ham and cheese, a bacon cheeseburger and the Carolina which I thought would be barbequed pork on a roll. Turns out the pork was on a hamburger. I ate them separately and they were delicious. Their draft beer was the perfect accompaniment. Service was good and the ride out of the "wilderness" made me realize it wasn't that far off the beaten track. Look forward to returning.

We drove from State College to the Wilderness for dinner as we had heard that the reviews were good. It took slightly over an hour but it was a nice drive out the Lancaster Valley near Milroy, PA. We were not disappointed. They were out of some beers and ribs, but we were there on a Tuesday after they had a busy weekend with specials. There was still plenty to order. I ordered their Elk Burger and a side of Corn Nuggets. The burger was large and very good and the nuggets were excellent. My wife and a fiend had a smoked pork chop special which had an very nice smoked flavor and her scalloped potatoes were tasty. Another member of our party had their cheesesteak and this was a hit with the table. It looked like a cheesesteak that I have seen in Philadelphia and he said that it was the best that he has ever had. The service was good and it was very pleasant sitting on their outdoor deck. This was out first visit but will not be our last as we have heard that they have rib specials that are worth the trip!

Traveled from Buffalo to try their wings. Was delicious. It's a bit of a hike to get there but well worth it.
