This place is tucked away on the route to the Plymouth Ferry. It’s a moderate sized house by NT standards but has an intricate façade that gives it presence. The titled family still I’ve in the property and modern family pictures sit side-by-side with ancient painted portraits. Make sure you listen to the curator in the Hall talking about the portrait of Charles I!

The gardens are fairly plain but worth a trot round.

We recently vised this property that was steeped in history, the grounds and gardens were well kept, the staff in the house were both friendly and knowledgeable.
Upon entering the house you felt straight away it had been designed for a large family and friends. The atmosphere throughout was very good.

This was our first trip to Antony House. The tour of the house was informative with lovely chandeliers. Apparently the gardens were where Alice in Wonderland was filmed. Would definitely return.

We visited Antony House today with our teenage son.

The site is well signposted from town, get the ferry across from Plymouth and then follow the signs.

Gardens opened at 12 and we were greeted by a friendly chap called Mike on the gate.

We wandered around the beautiful grounds until 12:30 when the house opened.

The house still belongs to the original family and they still live there, so there are lovely modern touches to this otherwise historic home. Wedding photos and kids drawn pictures are dotted through the property which makes it feel more like a family home. After 5pm the ropes and signs are taken down and the family reclaim their house!

As always, the volunteers were friendly and knowledgeable (apart from telling us off as we didn't realise there was a one way system in effect!)

The only disappointment was that not much of the house was open, so we wandered around in about 10-15 minutes. Hopefully more will open up in the near future.

We popped back into the gardens for a bit where the bees were busy working away and then headed back home 🏡

All in all a nice afternoon, but could have done with a bit more to see. Hopefully next time.

Staff very helpful kind and courteous very informative. All were helpful and informative about the house and family.
Yes sorry that the restaurant and upstairs was not open I think National Trust are a bit behind. Other stately homes are open. But like I said the staff made it very interesting and is willing to chat…..

Visited on a Tuesday afternoon so was quite quiet. Was worried by description of car park in a field after all the rain we have had but it had hardcore tracks for the cars and the grass had plastic mesh inset into it. The garden is lovely, lots of garden rooms and sculptures in many. The gardens were well tended compared with some Nat trust places we have been to lately. We did have to queue to get into the house but it was only 5 min and the lady on the door told us a brief history of the houses layout while we waited. The house is lovely with interesting paintings and sculptures and did have laminated info sheets in the rooms (not to touch - just to read). Only the ground floor open at the moment. Happily we brought a picnic since the cafe is closed at the moment. I have wanted to visit since watching Alice in Wonderland and it didn't disappoint.

We were unable to book online so eventually got through on phone but there are very few people here and no real need to book. Despite that the lady at the entrance asked every person whether or not they had booked – none of them said yes. We had a rather dull visit. Be aware that you have to queue to get into the house as it is so small and you’re only able to see the ground floor. Social distancing rules very strictly enforced by the ladies of the National Trust. We waited outside for a full 20 minutes fortunately it was not raining. Garden is much more satisfying than the house.

Car park too far for disabled to walk to the house. Ground floor only can be visited due to Covid. Staff not allowed to talk to you so you don't know exactly what you are looking at.

We had an excellent visit to this lovely place on a splendid day. The old trees are worth coming for alone. The staff were very helpful and were kind enough to post out to us a lens cap we lost on our visit.
Thank you !
