Pretty walk and waterfall. Quite difficult in parts and I didn’t find the path easy to find in places. But still, it was lovely to see nature at its best. Steep walk up the road back to the car.

This track, a short walk from Springwood station is very busy, far more so than those on the southern side of the station. It’s also easier and more accessible than other walks near Springwood but you still need to take care of the occasionally uneven ground and steps. The vegetation varies from dry to wet forest.

A good season of rain is needed to make this walk live up to its other reviews: it was dry and dusty when I did it in late Winter, so the little creek had no water. It could be lovely tho, especially early morning when the birds are in full song. As it was, I skipped the last part, from the entrance on Bednal Rd and walked back to my car in Boland St. The whole walk, with some brief stops for water and stillness, took me 1 hour, 15 minutes. Proper walking boots are required as the track is rough and the steps up to Lucinda St have not been maintained at all.

This is only a fairly short walk but goes down to the creek and back up again. You can make it a circular walk and go back to your car along the roads.
The atmosphere is lovely and there is plenty to see. Cliffs and rock formations and rain forest plants and trees.
Did not see any snakes although it is now a bit late in the year for them.

Has trails that lead down into rainforest and ferny rocky terrain. Snakes like to sun themselves on the rocks in patches of sunlight that filter down through the trees. Proper hiking boots, protective clothing, and snake leggings are highly recommended for this walk. This park connects to the extensive vast national park area so carrying an emergency locator beacon (available at the visitor centres or police stations) may be also advisable.

Given the lovely Easter weather, it seemed a shame not to be outside enjoying the bush. So, after looking for a convenient, not too hard, walk within easy reach of a Blue Mountains train station, I happened on Birdwood Gully Walk; there are several free maps on the interweb. Leaving the station, you can walk through the car park and cross the Western Highway to the start of the walk in Boland Avenue, but be EXTRA careful crossing the road here. (There are traffic lights, but some distance further West on the highway). Then it's a lovely downhill stroll past rock formations, lovely fern gullies, and huge Angophoras. The track is 'medium' grade, and well defined, and follows the creek for some distance. After 45 minutes of gentle walking, the track climbs again and comes out at Bednal Rd, where you can choose to complete the circuit through more bush, or make your way back to Springwood via local streets. The town was a surprise too, with plenty of shops and cafes open on a Sunday, for a great lunch before boarding the train back to Sydney. It's about an hour to Strathfield from Springwood.

Great local bushwalk - always enjoyed by my family growing up in the area. Lovely sclerophyll forest, with areas of temperate rainforest - especially the Madoline Glen part of the walk. Some staircases, and foot bridges over the creeks. The Madoline Glen waterfall only runs after rain. The cave in Birdwood Gully is great for the teenagers practising their hand and foot holds for climbing.

Our house overlooks Birdwood Gully. It is lovely walking down in the Gully. When you get down in the bottom of the Gully it is like a rain forest , cool, ferns and the beautiful sounds of birds.
Good for having a packed picnic.

2.4 km round trip with a short leg on the road, passes through Hawkesbury Sandstone vegetation, down to rainforest gullies, only 100 m from Springwood Station.

Cool in the summer, great for an early morning or afternoon workout. At night the glow worms are a hidden gem.
