This was my first time here, although my partner has been many times. It was an impressive collection, well curated and well signposted. Unfortunately the weather was not the best so we couldn't really appreciate the gardens and surrounds. The volunteer who gave the tour of the painting annex was very knowledgeable and obviously a Rose Lindsey fan! her enthusiasm was infectious.

I have been to this gallery twice and I highly recommend that you visit when it is all open and the tours are running. We visited and 2 of the studios are closed due to COVID. They still charge full price $17 per adult but there are no tours or access to the studios that were really very insightful on my previous visit. Still a very interesting look at Normans art and a lovely historic building. If you can delay until post COVID restrictions when they have it fully open again then I recommend you do so.

Great for art lovers, particularly those who like Lindsay's style, and if you liked the children's book, "The Magic Pudding". The highlight for me, however, was walking through the garden and the rest of the property itself.

Enjoyable visit to the gallery and museum today. Unfortunately, due to COVID, only the gallery part was accessible - the two studios were closed. Really enjoyed the art work and the combination of the magic pudding drawings and the female form - he was quite a diverse artist. I think for $17, it is expensive when the studios are closed, but the money goes to the upkeep of historic homes so I am ok with that. The gardens are lovely.

One of our regular pilgrimages to Norman’s wonderful gallery, which continues into a garden full of his hedonistic bacchanalian sculptures.

I knew I wasn’t a fan of his art but thought it might be worth a visit as I was in the area. Definitely not worth $18. Front door opened late and staff loud and chatty so didn’t offer the peace and quiet that might have helped my appreciation of what is a beautiful building. Lindsay just does not translate into the modern world for me. Feels icky and I couldn’t get by that and see the skill.

Having not a real through knowledge of the artist, we decided to have a look. While not our style, we could still appreciate the work that went into each piece, the details, the colours, the poses were all well thought out. Happy that we went and would recommend.

The home of Norman Alfred William Lindsay, the Australian artist who is most famous for painting semi-nude women has been preserved as a Museum and should not be missed. Some consider the buxom ladies painted by Lindsay to be pornographic but that is in the eye of the beholder. Lindsay also wrote children’s books as well as a number of books for adults that were banned until the early 1960s. As this was not enough, he was also a prolific cartoonist and towards the end of his life was awarded a Knighthood that he refused. There is a small shop with art books, t-shirts and even some of the pottery produced by the artist for sale. The Café attached to the Museum is remarkably good. The fishcakes that I had were delicious and my wife was very happy with her salad. Finally, it’s worth walking around the gardens just to soak up the atmosphere and imagine Lindsay’s productive life.

Norman LIndsay was an artist, architect, and writer. The museum is set in his old house, studios, and gardens, most of which he and wife built. Known mostly for his drawings and etchings, he did some very interesting semi-erotic paintings, sculptures, and architectural fixtures.

The gardens are extensive and include a bush walking track in the back from the pool.

The volunteer guides really know their material and everything about the place and its history.

Set in beautiful grounds the gallery/cottage allows one to fully experience a sense of the life and works of this great Australian artist.
We stayed in the cabin on the property which was clean, comfortable and with every amenity one would need. The staff were courteous, helpful and very knowledgeable and passionate about their work.
The whole stay was very reasonable and overnight included admission to the gallery and a voucher for the lovely cafe which is also on the property, serving delicious breakfasts and lunches.
Centrally located, it is a very good launching point to see other attractions that the Blue Mountains have to offer.
