We stayed with as a family of 8, 3 sisters, one brother and spouses through the landmark trust. What an experience! The ruins has been perfectly restored to provide a beautiful living space. The main living area is upstairs where you are essentially in a beautiful glass bubble within the ruins. All the bedrooms are comfortable with patio areas and views of the church. The castle is surrounded by its own grounds and a moat. We didn’t do much outside the castle so I can’t recommend days out but we loved every minute of being there, enjoying our surroundings, our family, preparing meals, eating together, drinking, laughing, walking the dog! Spectacular place to stay for switching off. No WiFi so be prepared for that.

Lovely refurbished medieval stately home . Open to public several times a year. Can be hired for residential stays at any time from Heritage Trust.

Not a place to visit like a ruined castle; a place to stay via the Landmark Trust, who restored/installed the living here. Anyway, just stayed there the week, fabulous. Landmarkers will know what it'll be like, so no more on that.
I write in part to recommend Arbury Balti for your regular holiday Takeaway Curry - it's on the right on the obvious road into Nuneaton, 62 Arbury Road, an easy drive and great cheap food.

Went for an afternoon out, local place came up when i googled National Trust. Went to have a look around the Castle and ruins but was asked to leave because I ventured near the Holiday Let Area. The man told me this was private property as he walked me out of the gates but provided no other useful information or explanation about the location as a place of interest. Landmark trust mean absolutely nothing to me so I left. Wasted my time and a lovely afternoon. Wish now i had gone to Calke Abbey in Derby.

I like old buildings, this one has to much to see in the way it was built. It has now been turned into a hotel but most of the building is still accessible. The old walls and fire places stand out, in its hey day it must have been magnificent.
The gate house or the ruins is the entrance and it is set just after a moat dry now but you can still see the banks on either side.
Well worth a visit.

My husband,my dog and I walk around this area often and we're lucky enough to be allowed to walk around the building close up. It is a wonderful piece of Nuneaton heritage and well worth taking a look on a sunny afternoon.

Had the pleasure of staying in Astley Castle for 4 nights in early April and can safely say it is the 'best' Landmark Trust we have visited, to date.

The modern, award-winning, architecture sits beautifully within the original walls of the historic Castle without compromising any character. Floor to ceiling windows let light flood in to every room and offer fabulous views of the neighbouring church and surrounding fields.

Kitchen and bathrooms are fully equipped with all mod-cons including underfloor heating, and the furniture/beds are really comfortable.

In fact, the Castle is so comfortable we didn't want to go out much! Worth a visit though is Astley Farm Book Shop - only half a mile away and a nice place to spend time browsing the shelves before enjoying tea and cake in their tearoom.

All in all, a fabulous break in an amazing place.

Visited in September on Landmark Trust open day, was very surprised there was so much history on my door step, the place as been very tastefully renovated by the trust after the fire at the castle and there are rooms to rent there which are great, the church next door is well worth a visit too

I did not want to turn down the opportunity to explore this fascinating property on a recent open day - and would recommend any locals to do the same, whether they have indepth knowledge/interest of history and/or arcitecture or only a passing interest.

The rebuild of the castle in to it's present day 'holiday let' (such a term does it a disservice, but there it is) is a staggering achievment. Documents left in the upstairs of the property, in the living/dining area present the journey from genuine ruin to modern marvel in fascinating detail.

The juxtaposition and clash of modern and original brick work, wood, and features is quite simply beautiful to behold. It is not a large area at all, you can explore the whole grounds in well under an hour, and as such is another reason not to miss out when it is open to the public.

The tease of refilling the moat 'if funds allow' mentioned is a tantilising prospect.

Also of note is Astley Church right next door which is itself a fascinating building. To think in such close proximity is Arbury Hall as well, it makes me quite sad to think I have lived in the town for so long, and only recently visited all of these wonderous sites.

Finally, a tip for visitors - as you approach the gate at the front of the property, look across the field to your right. Here stands, in isolation, one of the most picturesque oak trees I have ever seen..."like something out of a Robert Frost poem".
