We visited this church when we stayed at Fawsley manor. Although it is a relativley small church We were pleasenttly suprised upon entering. It was very well maintained and clean.

We came across this gem while walking the area. You enter by an uncommonly narrow, small ancient heavy wooden door. Inside the whole church is beautifully kept and maintained, despite being used for regular worship. The place is filled with artefacts from hundreds of years ago. All have an interesting story.
If you were on holiday abroad, they’d bus you out to a church like this and charge you £30 because it would be so good. Best preserved church I’ve seen in this country.

Love an evocative setting, complete with moat ? Interested in ancient tombs, medieval brasses, ancient fonts? This delightful church has all of these things. In addition, much of the old glass is from Sulgrave Manor, including some of the ceremonial glass depicting the Washington family. (The Corning Museum has the rest of it.) Very peaceful and friendly feeling.

The Priory was founded in 1147 and was one of the first priories to be closed by Henry VIII. It is now a small church, the rest having been demolished over time and stone work used for local buildings. It is one of the few private churches in the country.

I have been visiting this lovely medieval church for more years than I care to remember. It is absolutely beautiful- set in the middle of a sheep pasture and overlooking the lakes. The trauma of the clearance of the rest of the village has long gone and now there is a lovely calm atmosphere. Every time I’ve visited I’ve noticed something new. The memorials to various members of the Knightley family are just so interesting- the alabaster tomb is wonderfully carved - you can guess at the professions of the figures depicted around it. The stained glass windows are also interesting but the carving on the box pews is amazing! Far from depicting religious or moral requirements they are completely random and it’s anyone’s guess what they mean!!

I’ve known this church all my life and it’s an incredible survivor! It’s stood sentinel in its ancient landscape for centuries bearing silent witness to the world around it. It’s a hidden treasure that should be seen by a wider, respectful audience. It has the most incredible stained glass, some bearing the Washington family coat of arms and the most amazing carved medieval pews. The dedicated people who look after it are a credit for all they do to take care of it! Well worth a visit and please do make a donation if you stop by. They need and deserve every penny they can get to help maintain this masterpiece.

Ancient, peaceful with some wonderful tombs and sculptures. Stroll out after afternoon tea at Fawsley Hall!

Beautifully kept interior with comprehensive information.
Set alone in parkland, and still in use. Has recovered very will from theft of roof material.
Not open every day, byt having looked around the outside we cam back the following day, to find it open. Count it as four person-visits!!
