A great family camp venue
ago de 2021 • Família
This was our first camping experience as a family and we had a great experience! It was a lovely spot with great amenities(flush toilets, cold showers, fire rings, bbqs, clean campgrounds). We got to see some ulysses butterflies, bush turkeys, goannas, fish and eels. The walks are enjoyable and the water is cool and clear. We are excited to go back.

Things to note: there is a warning about possible freshwater stonefish (bullrout) and I think I may have seen one. This is a risk at many freshwater venues so water shoes are advised. We had no cell reception. The drive-in to Broadwater campgrounds contains about 10kms of unsealed road so be prepared to wash the car after the trip!

Outstanding Camping
abr de 2018 • Família
Great camping site adjacent beautiful creek with adjoining National Park.
45 minutes drive west of Ingham along a good gravel road - drive to the conditions - slow down.
Toilets & cold showers available & gas BBQ for ease of cooking.
Camp fires are allowed in fire rings.
Do take the creek walk path to the Overflow water hole.
Book on National Parks web site & enjoy.

A New Favourite!
ago de 2018 • Família
We headed to Broadwater last weekend and were delighted with what we found. The facilities were great and the water was fresh and cool. Didn't come across any stone-fish as the warnings suggested which is a plus!
We had a BBQ and spent the afternoon swimming. It was rather quiet with only a few caravans. We all left very relaxed and with a new favourite swimming hole.

Lovely place - BUT beware the mozzies
abr de 2018 • Casais
Had intended to camp overnight but couldn’t tolerate the mozzies - worst we have experienced anywhere. Pity as it’s a beautiful place and facilities are excellent. Once swimming spots as well.

Excellent for swimming and camping!
jun de 2017 • Casais
Broadwater is in the Abergowrie State Forest in the Hinchinbrook area. I would rate this as a 'must see' for anyone in the area. The shallow creek is right next to the camping ground. The water is beautiful and clear. We enjoyed the walk in the rainforest and I was fascinated by the Great White Fig. We picnicked next to the creek and took in all the lovely sights. There are bbq's nearby and is a lovely place to either stop by or camp for a few days. Don't forget the insect repellent. We will definitely be back for a longer camping visit. Beautiful Broadwater!

Oasis...
dez de 2016 • Casais
Stumbled across this hidden oasis by mistake. Saw the sign just outside of Ingham and decided to check It out. Be warned, If planning on camping you will need to register before you get there as you may have no phone coverage like us. It Is also a National Park not a State Forest so bring your own firewood and leave your pets at home... Lovely swimming and a few nice walking tracks. Bbqs and undercover areas Its really well kept and great set up for a day trip or camping...

Beautiful and refreshing
dez de 2016 • Família
We took a day trip to Broadwater from Townsville. Even though there has been very little rain for a long time there is still plenty of cool, fresh water for swimming. I sat among the little rapids and enjoyed the water massaging my shoulders. We had taken a picnic lunch and enjoyed that at a table under the shade of the trees. We also went on the rainforest walk to see the large fig tree. There are also great camping facilities which we have used previously - take your own firewood and use the fire places provided.

Great Camping, Excellent Facilities
out de 2015 • A sós
Broadwater is one of those hidden gems that the locals like to keep to themselves. Situated beside the cooling Broadwater Creek, the grounds have extensive camping and day areas with showers and toilets onsite for campers. There is also large grassed areas ideal for a game of cricket or footy.

The adjacent creek is sourced in the distant mountains and is always running (and often icy cold). Note to punters though - there are fresh water stone fish in these areas so they recommend swimming with shoes on. The creek area also has a pontoon with easy access to the swimming hole.

Access to the site is a bit of a jaunt - the easy turn off is from the Bruce Highway just to the north of Ingham (look for the signs about 100m past the Herbert River bridge) but can also be reached from the west (via Abergowrie) - a slightly longer trip. The road in is unsealed but in good condition - but it can be a bit slippery in wet weather - and is probably a 15-20 mins drive in from the bitumen.

All up, it's an excellent stop off if you're travelling up or down the coast.
