City Lights Bookstore is a cozy, welcoming space filled with new and used books and a feline greeter. We enjoyed browsing, exploring the nooks. The staff was very helpful.

A super fun bookstore with a terrific cafe below. One of my favorite places to visit in Sylva. Love it.

You can trade your used books here or buy new books. You can find just about anything here, including local authors and local places. Friendly staff and a cat to welcome you inside.

City Lights feels right when we walk in, feels like a true bookstore, with an excellent variety, new and old books. There are used books, cd's, audiobooks and lots of new, the latest, as well. Their Regional Room has an interesting collection for collectors to go for. And, last but not least, C.L.. has a live cat strolling the aisles. At the same time, the bookstore is pet-friendly.
City Lights takes in used books and cd's with credit good on future purchases. We really liked their "staff picks" section too. From Eon, one of the staff members, we learned that Kentucky writer, Kim Michele Richardson launched her latest novel, THE BOOK WOMAN OF TROUBLESOME CREEK, at City Lights! Of course, it's next on our stack of to-be-read.
And, there is a City Lights Cafe downstairs from the bookstore, a funky place with a nice choice of breakfast/lunch items.

We always go here when we are in town. They have new and used books, including a section of 25 cent galley proofs. Independent bookstores matter. This is a great one.

I love, love this bookstore. Featuring a ton of Appalachian literature / authors with signed copies by some Western NC authors such as David Joy. There are also some unique magazines, and a large section of used books. The cat is living a cat's best life, sleeping on the counter and accepting pets. There's also a cafe / coffee shop in the building.

You could spend hours just perusing the titles laid out logically by genre and topic. There is a cozy window seat to sit and read as long as you don’t mind a snuggly warm cat joining you in the sunshine.
The staff are friendly and warm and will lead you to anything you ask for no mater where it is in the store.

I love going to this bookstore and the coffee shop. There are lots of options for great coffee and good books to go with it. It’s a nice place to hang out with friends and enjoy a relaxing lunch or snack. The used book store also carries a great selection and the local artist selection is great also.

In a time when bookstores in general are struggling, it was encouraging to find one with great variety, new and used, and City Lights includes an Appalachian Room! The staff are knowledgeable and very helpful, which helps the bookstore thrive. They have a large used book room and a wonderful, up-to-date selection of new books. And, don't miss the cat!
