This is one of the most impeccably preserved house museums in the Southeast. It’s as though the Hall family left for a moment, opening the door to the 19th/early 20th century….down to the linens. A desk of Andrew Jackson, pardons signed by Seward and Johnston, so many astounding things and tales. WELL worth a visit! Great narratives by their docents.

Very awesome Antebellum structure. A very good history lesson for young and old of Salisbury which is rich in history. I grew up with the Hall family personally. They are just as remarkable today as they were in yesteryears. It is a good place to learn about Salisbury history. As a doctor he was one of the pillars of the community that made Salisbury what it is today. If you get a chance visit this house definitely.

An interesting place filled with objects and furnishings of the time offers a great view into the lives of those who made their homes inside. While in Salisbury this is a must see. I was given a tour and was basically the only visitor for about an hour. Two ladies were available to help visitors get a good idea of the history of the home. Check the times that the house is open before going. Parking is available in the street out front.

Historic Salisbury Foundation has owned Dr. Hall's house since 1972 and has spent thousands on repairs and restoration. It is their pride and joy. One of Salisbury's landmark houses in its historic West Square. After the tour, check out the surrounding blocks in Salisbury's first National Register Historic District.

This was a wonderful tour on our day trip to Salisbury. The tour guides were excellent and the house was great to see. Loved the intimate Civil War historical notes.

This is a nice tour that lasts about 2 hours. You are able to view the rooms downstairs and upstairs and the outside kitchen. The home has a quaint family history.

Great place to experience some Salisbury Civil War history! People aren't always there all the time so the hours are a little odd but other than that this place is informative, unique, and includes artifacts from local collections. If you come on Christmas Eve, there is a special night tour!

If your a Civil War buff, this is your place to visit.... Dr. Hall has connections with the Salisbury POW Camp during the American Civil War. Very well maintained, excellent tours available with staff who know the history.... MUST SEE.

Is it okay to take a few couples and take pictures on the grounds for Prom? They really liked the walkway and entrance. Thank you.

Was the school/home built by slaves and did slaves live on the property?

I don't have that info at this time, but since it was built in 1820, I'm sure that some slaves in the area contributed to the building of the Hall House. (I will attempt to confirm this in Salisbury's library when I get a chance.) When I was in Jr High and High school, we would play handbells inside and outside during the Christmas season. It's a really nice place to visit during the holidays. They 'dress up' the house beautifully!
Meanwhile, check the web, google 'salisbury nc hall house' for additional info.

Is home wheelchair accessible? Is there an upstairs that require climbing of many steps?

I couldn't remember if there was a ramp or elevator, so I emailed them to find out. It is not accessible by wheelchair. However, there are not many steps up into the house and you would still be able to tour the downstairs if unable to climb the stairs to the second floor.
