Excellent pool experience. Not sure about other reviews, but there was only one person using a radio inside the pool grounds and it was at a very reasonable volume. Grounds were mostly clean although the garbage cans at the snack bar needed to be emptied. Easy to park and very short walk to pool. Easy to pay and get in, plenty of room to put your towels and stuff down if you don't use the locker room (we didn't but it seemed nice and clean). If you're worried about baking in the sun, there are a lot of trees and shade around the perimeter of the pool - maybe 30 yards from the pool itself The pool itself is huge, with a lot of cool features in the shallow end for kids, like misting sprayer (good for babies), sprinklers, streams of water, etc. The water was clean and luckily not too warm - about 74 degrees which is perfect to cool off. The deep end is far away from the family section that if you're there without a family you can enjoy it without being too bothered by screaming kids. Plenty of lap lanes that were open when I went. There is a snack bar with the usual fried food, ice cream, etc. (No beer or alcohol.) $10 per vehicle, plus $3 per person (little kids might be free).

Park and pool are great. Staff are nice but people were blasting music from 3 foot speakers everywhere and there was a lot of garbage being left at picnic sites. No enforcement what-so-ever of music rules. Bathroom was disgusting with feces all over the floor. People disobeying smoking rules and also throwing lit cigarettes into dry leaves. Visitors are trashing this great place after a $30-million renovation. Unfortunate and I would not drive 2 hours from NYC to go back there. Trails are probably the cleaner, quieter option here.

OK we just went to the pool today and I have to tell you that for this being in Yorktown Heights this pool is trash. Do not expect anything nice here and the web page says no music is allowed at all and yet all we heard all day long was loud music coming from other people. This is unacceptable and should not be done. The pool needs a tremendous amount of work and is falling apart. In my opinion the county should close this pool and redo it and make it look nice because this is not for this area. Trash.

Terribly loud and dirty park. People think it’s ok to blast music from their cars and leave trash everywhere. Save your 10$!!!!!

Don’t support this park. They underpay their employees. I’ve worked at the pool the last three summers, this involves picking loads of trash that people leave behind, cleaning toilets and bathrooms, dealing with nasty patrons who do things like blame US for the weather. I’m writing this review because even though this is my third summer, I get paid the same amount as the people who just started here. Also, everyone else gets holiday pay on july 4 except the pool employees, when the pool has ~4000 patrons on this day and do the most work on this day. During the summer the park gets over run by people coming up from the city. This is a beautiful park honestly, and they treat it like a dump. No respect whatsoever. Trash left everywhere and no consequences for it. It’s really a shame how these people can come up here and do whatever they want / disrespect the entire place. Overall besides this park having nice scenery, it’s a crappy place that cheat their employees and let people trash it.

This state park has so many things to do. There is a huge and very well maintained pool, trails for running or biking, a boat launch and a pond. They don't allow outside food or drinks in the pool area (water is ok) but there is a food stand with drinks, beer, fried food, and ice cream. I enjoyed how diverse this pool was with lots of folks from all walks of life coming together with grandparents and little kids to enjoy a state park

I've been a long time user of this Park...even back to when it was known as Mohansic State Park. I've picniced and hiked there, but my main and consistent use has been tor fishing and essentially that's how my review will be based on... I'm a sliver away from being 73 years old, and I've been fishing here since I was 19. What's been the main draw is it's nearness to NYC, plus it's access, plus the quality of fishing available. Also, the opportunity to see and use an undeveloped lake, and observe various birds and wildlife. such as great blue herons, snapping turtles, deer, otter, red winged black birds, and canadian geese... I used to love being on the lake in the early morning and hear canadian geese in the distance. Then the sound grows and suddenly they burst over the tree line, flying in formation. Beautiful! One of the really neat features here is the small narrow, winding channel of perhaps 100-yards long that connects the main lake to a smaller lake named Crom Pond, also undeveloped. In the highly developed Yorktown area, this is like an oasis of secluded serenity... Anyway, in both lakes, there is very good fishing for largemouth bass, black crappie, bullhead catfish, and various different sunfish like bluegill and pumpkinseed. There are densely weeded areas, points, man made piers, deadfalls, shallow coves, and so forth to provide very different fishing opportunities for skilled or beginner anglers...

To take full advantage of the fishing, you really need your own boat, although the Park does offer rentals. Gas motors are not permitted. There is a boat ramp within the park, and cartopper drop off access and parking outside the park. Best to contact the park first for their fees, boat registration decals, and use rules and process before just showing up. Good fishing!

We go often. Easy trails and have seen many farm animals as well as wild life. Clean facilities. Easy parking. Always something to see as the seasons change. Good choice for solitude or with friends and family.

During the summer season FDR Park is a busy swim and bbq haven for legions of myriad folk coming from a wide range of settings. Once admissions prices fade in the subsequent shoulder season, the park takes on a more peaceful and local flavor.

Grandparents with kids, dog walkers seeking fresh air, runners of varying lengths and commitment are among the various visitors who take advantage of a more relaxed turnstile free opportunity to spread their wings a bit. The kids playground area is especially well kept, with lots of challenging and varied exercise options.

Our three year old companion had loads of fun making a new friend in the process, came home for lunch before surprisingly announcing he wanted to take a mid-afternoon nap, one that lasted a record setting two and a half hours!
