I did not go the very top, but far enough to get some amazing views of the Two Medicine Valley. Higher up the trail gets more rocky with shale. Hiking poles recommended and not recommendif it is very windy as it is exposed.

First, when I leave (only) 4 stars, it's in the context of Glacier National Park where there are so many awesome trails. So this one is isn't quite a top-10, but still...

The start is a little weak; it's steep and through the trees. Shortly, however, it breaks out as you ascend a drainage area to a ridge. Keep going and you'll come to the spur trail on the left that's a short hop to the point. Continue on a bit for some more fun and you'll take in some remarkable views.

Also saw some Bighorn Sheep!

We chose this trail as our first hike in Two Medicine. The trail starts out in a bit of scrub, trees, and then begins its ascent towards scenic point. The ascent was tough, in particular for those of us who live at sea level--but worth it. The views at the top were incredible, but we had to scramble down quickly due to rain.

Fun trail but uphill is difficult. Great views of Two Medicine Lake. Bring bear spray! Parking was adequate even in August.

This is a very good 10 mile hike at Two Medicine with excellent views from very early in the hike. It is well graded.

This is definitely a workout but so worth it. Starting out it was kind of windy but the closer to the top we got the windier it got. Once we had almost made it the top, the wind was blowing so hard that I had to crouch down and walk like that the rest of the way so that I wouldn’t get blown away. Even my husband was nervous at this point. We made it though and it is very pretty up there. I’m so glad we were able to do this hike.

This is a great hike, but you should know there are discrepancies as to the distance. Moon's Glacier National Park (5th ed) show the distance as 6.2 mi rt, while the NPS website map shows it to be 7.8 mi rt. Given there is also an elevation gain of 2100+ feet, this is a significant difference. Several hikers we met on the trail were dismayed at the real distance and time required, and were unable to go all the way.

One big plus was that when we started, the trail was a bit crowded, but by the time we reached Scenic Point, there was no one else around.

My wife and I both enjoyed this hike, though it was not a spectacular (or crowded) as the hike to Grinnell glacier. Soon after starting up,the landscape became rather barren, with only very low-growing vegetation, twisted dead limber pines and an occasional cluster of stunted firs. Still, by the time we reached Scenic Point, at 7500', the views looking back on Two Medicine Lake or out on the Great Plains were exceptional. (For my wife and I, it was 5 1/2 hours total up and back, but I'm in my mid 70's and move at a more leisurely pace than many younger people might.)

The pretty Appistoki Falls can be found by hiking 0.6 miles down the Mt. Henry Trail. The trail head starts 2.7 miles west of the Two Medicine entrance. The hike started out easy then became a little steeper when we were near the falls. We saw the falls and returned the way we came. The Mt. Henry Trail is a much longer trail. We saw a Grouse (bird) along the trail.

We combined the first part of the Scenic Point Trail to Appistoki Falls with a hike to Aster Falls for our first afternoon in Glacier National Park.

It's only 0.6 miles from the Scenic Point Trail to Appistoki Falls. We covered that in less than 30 minutes. I have to say that from a distance I was quite non-plussed by the falls...it's not that tall or initially impressive. As we got closer, however, I saw that the falls were actually gushing out of rock face, and that was pretty cool!

One of the nice things about this hike is that it's accessible to just about anyone. You don't have to walk that far and the increase in altitude is relatively small with an increase of 260' as you go.

The falls are picturesque, and this is a nice stop if you are looking for an easy destination hike, i.e., a hike that ends at some memorable vista.

The valley is pretty as is the forest you hike through.

All in all a good outing worth 4 stars.

Only 4 cars in the parking lot, partly because hike was pretty tough and East Glacier just not nearly as crowded as Many Glacier and Going to Sun Road areas. Fantastic views and challenging terrain, but not overly so.
