Very nice trail with beautiful scenery

Lovely Trail. Our guide dog never left us or let us get mixed up. Our nine year old said it was his best hike ever and he loved the guardian dogs,

Beautiful quiet trail

Such a beautiful trail! We've been to Manitoulin many times but this was our first time to this trail, it is 100% worth the visit. It has some steep grades and rough terrain that can be difficult for little ones, I suggest a backpack carrier for children under 3, definitely not stroller friendly. The dogs that may accompany you are super sweet too!

Must do! Trail dogs are a joy!
ago de 2021 • Família
It was a great trail! We did the fitness trail originally and then headed up the warrior trail. The path is relatively clear and you can follow the markings quite easily to the lookouts! The view is really spectacular and the lookout is big with a lot of seating. The best part of the entire trail is definitely the trail dogs - they sit when you sit, walk when you walk, it was so much fun and you definitely feel safe without worrying about seeing bears or deers (not that we saw any). I would definitely recommend this trail if you are on the Island!

Loved our trail companions!
ago de 2020
The unique thing about these trails is your walk companions. We loved being greeted by two dogs who served as our guard dogs while we walked the trail! As soon as we pulled in to the parking lot, they appeared and waited for us to get our walking shoes on. The dogs would stay ahead of us on the trail and if we got too far behind, they would wait for us to catch up and then off they'd go again. We did a short trail this visit, but there are longer trails with beautiful lookouts.

Worth to visit

We were so lucky that Kusky led us through the Warriors loop. My daughter chased Kusky the whole way. She had a lot of fun! The trial was much easier for younger kids than the Cup & Saucer one!

An amazing hiking trail. Well taken care off. Signage is great!! In my opinion a nicer and more scenic trail than the Cup and Saucer trail! Much better maintained. We had the pleasure of having Kusky the trail guide dog accompany us for the entire trail! Would definitely recommend!

Bijzondere hike

A hidden gem on the island
jul de 2019
I feel this trail is very underrated, at least it's not talked about in the same breadth as the cup and saucer. Also, it's a little out of the way, deep in a First Nation reserve.

There are three loops. The blue one is a recreational trail that's very low in intensity, which is great for family with young kids. There are also exercise equipments along the trail. The red and yellow ones are more intense, which lead you up the mountain and into the woods, but the view at the lookout spots are great and well worth the trek. We didn't finish the loop because the bugs were too intense and we didn't bring the spray with us on the trail.

The absolute highlight was the dogs. We were fortunate enough to have the dogs with us, but we caught a glimpse of what it could be. Half-way along the trail, I spotted two dogs, staring at us in the bushes :) Then they came to greet us and "led" us along the trail for a while. Then all of a sudden they went off. I think they were with the couple before us and came to check us out :)

All-in-all, a very pleasant experience (maybe minus the mosquitoes). Next time we will come more prepared and maybe better luck to have the dogs with us on the walk :)

Awesome hike with doggy companions
ago de 2019 • Casais
Luckily we read Google reviews before going and so we were not surprised to see the three dog guardians. We had an amazing hike being accompanied by these three friends. They are so amazing and work as a team to keep you safe. The trail is $2 per person (we brought coins for the machine). We did the three fires trail and stopped at the beautiful look outs. Some mosquitoes along the way but nothing terrible. We covered up and wore bug spray. Would highly recommend this trail if only to spend some time with the dogs.

A nice hike (with guide dogs!)
ago de 2018 • Amigos
I mean, the best thing about this hike are the guide dogs - although the woods are nice and the views of the North Channel and Nahdweh Lookouts are lovely and have information posted about the history of the area as well, which I always look for and enjoy!
Story: We were the first group to show up the morning we went, and as we rounded the corner approaching the parking lot, 4 dogs came running up to our car, surrounding it and barking all the way. For a split second I was a little worried, but I slowly drove the car up to the lot and parked. I got out of the car to say hi to the excited, barking dogs. Although they were exuberant in greeting us, they are extremely nice dogs, and well behaved. They are there to help guide you on the trail (and to protect you from bears). They will occasionally go off and do their own thing for a couple of minutes, and then return, (sometimes all wet or covered in plant burrs!). I had a great experience, and would recommend it to anyone who likes to hike.
NOTE: the mosquitoes in some sections of the hike are deadly. I wore long sleeves and pants and you could still play connect the dots on my back and neck later. Absolutely douse yourself in bug spray before you go.
