The owner & sister were there....so friendly & informative of the history of the buildings. Beautiful in side.

While this place looked interesting on the website, it is not. The history is simple. Two roads intersected here once upon a time and someone built a successful tavern. That’s it. You’d have to get lucky even to find the visitor center open. Maybe if you lived there you’d stop by the farmers’ market that’s only open 4 hours a week (10-2) on some summer Sundays. Maybe you’d see one of the few old-fashioned baseball games played in the lawn. But otherwise don’t waste your time.

A fine example of how travel was in the late 1800's. It was interesting how a family could offer many amenities for those traveling to Detroit, Chicago and else where. The volunteers are top notch and made our visit.

We attended a high school graduation party held at the Tavern.
It is a nice space with a rustic feel. Unfinished woods give it a sense of space in the 1800's.
The tavern accommodated the gather nicely.
Next time, we'll spend more time and explore.

The address of this place is M 50, but it fronts on US12, which is an historical road. It was the main road between Detroit and Chicago-originally an Indian trail-and Walker Tavern was the place to stay. There is even a barn to house the horses and buggies. If you like history-this a place to visit!
Historic baseball games are also held here in the summer.

not too far of a walk, mind you, but very cool setting and exquisite example of olden days. Buildings are a one of a kind throwback to a past era.

Visited Labor Day weekend on Sunday. There was a fairly good farmers market in the parking lot too. We enjoyed the grounds. The buildings were well kept and the staff was well versed in the local history. It was an enjoyable 2 hours.

We went on a weekday and had the place to ourselves, it was really nice. The lady who was taking care of the place was just starting her lunch, but offered to give us a tour. We told her to finish her lunch, she did show us the main building briefly, gave us a paper guide, and then went back to her lunch. The place is very nice and they are doing their best to keep it up, and show other local attractions that used to be in the area. It is a nice peaceful site that has a lot of historical information about the area.

The annual Civil War reenactor's weekend is a great event, but the history buff will love to visit anytime.
