This is a Lake, not a Pond! Kayaking at its best!
ago de 2016 • Família
Just spent one of the most relaxing, beautiful weeks with my family. Most days we were the only people on the water yet were fortunate enough to share this amazing piece of nature with the loons, the fish and a bald eagle.

A Cabin on the Pond
ago de 2015 • Amigos
Only in Maine, could this be a "pond" - it would be a lake anywhere else. Several miles long, maybe 1/2 mile wide and quiet as a church mouse when we were there. Maybe a boat or two, but mostly kayaks, when anyone at all was seen. We stayed with family, so I'm not sure how you see it as a visitor. Maybe rentals?

Best Childhood Memories of my life!
ago de 2014 • Família
Friends of the family Genny and Willard Colby owned a camp on Pitcher Pond. We spent many weekends and most of the summers on the pond. It is where my love of the outdoors started. The pond back then had very few camps on it and the dirt road in made us feel like we were in the middle of the wilderness. I learned to fish and swim there. I fell in love with the call of the loons there. It was a safe place for us kids to hike and explore the world around us. If I won the lottery today I would own a piece of land there tomorrow!

Nice paddle!
ago de 2014 • Casais
This long, narrow lake makes a nice quiet kayak paddle. Some development on west side. Wooded views, some small mountain/hills to view. Saw painted turtles in a couple of locations. Did not see loons, but heard them in distance as we were getting off the water.

Shhh, don't tell anyone

We've been coming to Pitcher Pond for almost 40 years. Despite its name, it's a lake but a relatively small one (two miles long, a few hundred yards wide) and since it is hidden from the road, many people drive right by without noticing it. We love everything about it -- clean swimming water, loons, eagles, ducks, no jet skis, lots of kayaks, friendly neighbors, an owners' association that cares for the lake etc. Visitors are welcome -- there is a launch for boats by the dam and the mill pond; just be sure to check your boat for millfoil and other non-native species.

The camp once owned by Clyde Holmes on the Northport side.
jul de 2011 • Família
The camp/cottage once owned by Clyde Holmes on the Northport side is the one my folks bought in 1956. All our Slade family and relatives and friends enjoyed it there summer, fall and winter. It was a hike to get across the Pond on Ice but we loved it. No power, privy in the barn, and fire place. It was the best spot, looking out on the pond between the towering pine trees. Hikes to porcupine hill, and visits to the Island were among the fun things to do. And don't forget the trips to the Lincolnville Ctr. Store, for necessities, penny candy, and ice cream. Oh and so much more. Visited there 1956 to 1988 30 plus awesome years.

Quiet Maine
Great relaxing with nature. You can fish here, but won't catch too much. Bring your canoe!

Fabulous, quiet pond
jul de 2011 • Família
Every time we go here, we wonder where everyone is. We even tried visiting on Fourth of July weekend and still it was quiet. We love to kayak over into the little alcove and play with the friendly frogs. The call of the loon is another attraction. Quiet serenity.

A Pitchers Pond Experience
ago de 2010
This is one of the most relaxing vacations. staying on pitchers pond is a wonderful experience. We stay at the Pennell cabins right on the lake every year. The scenary is breath takingly beautiful. Our children love to swim, Go tubing, and feed the ducks. the ducks are so friendly they will eat out of your hand. This is a trip my family looks forward to every year. The owners of the cabin's are truely welcoming and the views and relaxation are well recieved.

A different world
Pitcher pond is about 20 minutes from Camden but a world away. Nearly half of the three mile long lake is undeveloped. There is little boat traffic except on weekends during the summer. The lake is surrounded by woods and gives a sense of seclusion even though it is only a few minutes from Camden and Belfast.
There is hiking available within a few minutes at Camden Hills State Park or a wonderful nature preserve along the Ducktrap River at Rt 52.
Unless you rent a cottage on the lake there is little actual access. Calling it a "beach" is incorrect. For those with access to the lake there is canoeing and kayaking, sailboating, great fishing, water skiing, etc.
For the best time of year try the fall. Tree changing season is even more quiet and is truly spectacular.
For those of us who know Pitcher Pond, it's a unique piece of heaven in Maine.
