Piece of FL History
ago de 2021
$5 entrance fee. Many places to have a picnic overlooking the water. A lot of camping sites. Some picnic areas are covered. Trails that give you a great idea of the real FL with Palm trees, live oaks, etc. A bit of Native American history throughout the park. A store with rentals of canoes and kayaks. It is closed on Tuesdays though. Boats can use the ramp too as far as I could tell with a few boat parking spots.

Nice park
ago de 2021 • Casais
We really did enjoy this park and will return with our bikes next time. We were very dismayed and shocked when we first pulled into our campsite. It had not been cleaned from the prior people. There was junk everywhere. We found a nice Campground host whose job it was to clean bathrooms, but he came down and cleaned most of it up for us. When we went to check out I wanted to speak to the ranger in the office about it and had even taken pictures of some other junk left around. He was not interested in talking to me about it nor looking at the pictures. I wanted to assure him that we did not leave the mess. He just asked what site number it was and said somebody would go there and clean it up. I just don't believe it because it wasn't done before we arrived. I would have liked him to have shown more interest in what I had to say.

Nice Walking Trails
mai de 2021 • Amigos
Had a great time walking around the park on the trails, especially the nature trail. There’s a nice picnic area to eat lunch as well. A nice place to go and relax for a few hours.

Tomoka and Bulow Creek are genuine Florida beauties
mai de 2021
I'm including Bulow Creek State Park in this review because it is part of what the local park rangers call The Loop, formally the Ormond Scenic Loop & Trail. The northern end is at High Bridge Road that joins Walter Boardman Lane, it then turns south on Old Dixie Highway that then forks left onto North Beach Street. North Beach St. parallels the Halifax River, through Tomoka State Park, down to Granada Boulevard, where you can go east across the river to John Anderson Drive and back north toward High Bridge. You'll pass largely through a residential neighborhood on John Anderson before you get back the green hammocks, so if greenery is what you're looking for, don't go farther south on North Beach than Tomoka State Park. There are trails through Bulow Creek and Tomoka that wind through open oak hammocks and have side trails to inland waterways. This is native Florida. We didn't get to spend enough time here but will be back.

Good camp for biking
abr de 2021 • Casais
We stayed here for 10 days in our fifth wheel. We enjoyed riding our bikes on the roads & paths. We were glad we had them. The store is far from the campground. We went to the store once. People in there not wearing masks & cashier not friendly so we never returned. We kayaked once while here. We fished a lot & liked the docks over the water that we could fish from. Fishing was pretty good here. There’s a bike path across the rd from campground entrance. It’s beautiful but only 1 1/2 miles long I think. Biking on the rd to the north seems dangerous. Lots of traffic both ways. Some of the campsites look good. Ours was very close to our neighbor. The washers & dryers worked well. The first few days we were here was a bad first impression. There were campers several sites away with music blasting all day to well past midnight. No one enforces quiet time here. The rangers don’t patrol & the camp hosts just clean & maintain sites. The day shift rangers seem annoyed if you ask them anything. They won’t give out camp maps d/t covid yet don’t even wear masks. And every other park in the state gives out maps. Don’t know if we’ll return here.

Nice Enough RV Park
dez de 2020
Easy to find off the Ormond Scenic Loop, check in was smooth. The campsites are accessed via a large loop. Most sites are not level front to back and/ or side to side. They are sugar sand off the sugar sand road (messy after it rains). The heavily treed park has sites that are smaller and closer together than you should expect. The hookups (mostly 30A power, and water) are convenient, and functioned properly. The many bathrooms and showers (each has a washer and a dryer) were clean (the moldy shower curtain present my first night was exchanged for a new one the next day without my prompting) with plenty of hot water. This is a large State Park that sits between the Tomoka River, and the Halifax River so if you have a kayak or canoe (the small store on site also has rentals) this would be a good spot for you

Woodsy and well kept FL State Park -Tomoka
nov de 2020 • A sós
This is a nice woodsy park with level RV sites. Even tho the sites are close, the foliage creates a privacy barrier. It attracts people from lo walks of life & w every imaginable kind of camping equipment. The bathrooms were clean and the showers were hot w good water pressure. I felt safe here.

The only downside is the sites are a tight squeeze even for my small RV. A friend smashed her class A backing in b/c of a tree that jutted out above her space. I had no problems except the water hookup is shared w the site next door and WAY back from RV. But my 35 ft water hose made it.

No sewer hook ups but a convenient dump station.
I'd stay again.

It has a remote feeling but the grocery store in 15 min away.

Tomoka at least once a year!
out de 2020 • Família
Finally got out yo tomoka this year. Booked a different site to our usual and it was great. The park is in good shape, showers were super clean at all times. Camp hiss even came around one night with “goodies” that our son loved.
The outpost is one of the best things. Probably the best camp store we’ve seen and friendly people. We’ll be back ... !!

great camping and fishing
out de 2020
We enjoyed the park one day during our weekend trip, from hiking some trails, picnicking at the store, visiting the Indian statue, relaxing at a picnic table reading, to exploring the area. The most amazing discovery was that cars/trucks can drive up all the way to the water so people can have their own secluded sunning or fishing spot.
