Ishak pasa Palace

The unique Ishak Pasha Palace, with its most magnificent work built after the topkapi palace in Anatolia, its position overlooking the whole plain, its magnificent architecture and incredible dignitaries.Built near the Iranian border in the 18th century and influenced by Western architecture, its stone carving and decorations bear the traces of many different cultures from Iran to the Anadolu Seljuks State, Georgia to the Caucasus.today, it is located in doğubeyazıt district of Ağrı province in the territory of Turkey.Doğubeyazıt district is located on the ancient Silk Road Route.the district has hosted settlements since the late Neolithic period.the district, which was turned into a Sanjak Principality during the Ottoman period, entered into a rapid construction and was built during this period in the palace of Ishak Pasha.due to the geopolitical position of the palace and its district, it has been the scene of many wars and destruction since the 19th century, and the palace has been heavily affected by these ravages.the most accurate information about the construction of the palace is in the inscription written in Ottoman language on the harem Crown door located in the second courtyard.the inscription says that it was built in 1784 by Ishak Pasha II, grandson of Ishak Pasha I of the Çıldır dynasty.the architect of the palace and how soon its construction was completed is not known for certain.3 sides completely surrounded by high cliffs and mountains, the view of Mount Ağrı(ararat) is magnificent.Built on an area of about 7,600 square meters, measuring 50 and 115 meters, the palace was built at a height that was difficult to capture..Built on 3 floors, the palace consists of about 360 different units.basically, the palace consists of 3 parts, which are compatible with the courtyards and courtyards of each section.the palace is entered by the crown gate on the east side, which is the only grey point.1 around the courtyard consists of guard rooms, guard wards, dungeons, fountains and sections of horse shelters.the crown gate and fountain of this courtyard bear traces of Seljuk art .magnificent decorations and craftsmanship are great. From 1 courtyard to 2 courtyards, a magnificent crown door is entered again.after passing under a cradle vault of about 10 meters, 2 courtyards are reached. In 2 courtyards; there are servant rooms, a crown gate of selamlik, selamlik, tomb.(Selamlik is a structure reserved for Arrivals or departures (send-off), diplomatic reception and negotiation in mansions, pavilions and palaces or open spaces in ancient Turks. It is one of the main building blocks of Ottoman architecture).the most magnificent structure of this courtyard is the selamlık Crown gate, which is made with incredible craftsmanship and motifs.
lion motifs made in relief of the crown gate, Tree of life motif are available in a wide variety of plant and geometric patterns.in selamlik, there is also a section where there are divan and divan rooms.(divan is a council where state affairs were discussed during the Ottoman period and the state was used to make decisions).
3 sections of the palace begin again with a magnificent crown.the harem consists of harem rooms, kitchen, hall, bathroom, servants ' rooms.the crown gate of the harem was made with magnificent decorations.(harem:the palace area where the Sultan's mother, sister, concubines and their servants live).Isak Pasha Palace is a magnificent work with magnificent geometric and plant-animal decorations describing the architectural features and life of the period.the most important information about the palace is the notes and notes of travelers and officials who stay or visit the palace.the earliest information about the palace is provided by the French traveler and official Pierre Amédée Jaubert.Pierre Amédée Jaubert is captured by Ottoman soldiers as they cross the Iranian border to learn about the state of Iran by Napoleon and form an alliance against the Ottomans.mahmut Pasha, the governor of doğubeyazit, throws Pierre Amédée Jauberti into the dungeon and stays in the dungeon for about 5 months.sentenced to death, jauberti mahmutpaşa is saved from death by the death of the plague .ibrahim Pasha, who came to his place, releases him.
the greatest damage to the palace was inflicted during the Ottoman Russian wars, which began in the 19th century.it is said that the decorations of the crown doors and many books in libraries were looted and taken to museums in Russia.
Isaac Pasha Palace is waiting for all guests with its incredible view and architecture…

It is a beautiful castle, which architecture has been influenced by different styles and combine the best of all. You don't need more than an hour or 1.5h to discover it.

The entrance fee is 10TL, and it's easy to get there with a taxi.

There are explanations in English on all sections, so you won't miss out on important details. Highly recommend!

Old beyazid at the eastern end of the Ottoman empire features a palace built for ishak pasha II.the building was completed in 1784 according to the inscription above the harem entrance .however, the palaces myriad construction techniques indicate that construction spanned several periods .and can be dated Çolak ali paşa rule in 1680..
palace covers 7600 square meters .the architecture resembles Ottoman hanedan palace ,while its ornamentation reflect swljuk, ottoman, gothic, romanic empire and causacasion influences.
For the first time after its construction, the Russians looted the library after the Ottoman Russian war between 1828-29. Silver doors of the harem section were removed and taken away.

During the Crimean war between 1854 and 55, the palace was looted and destroyed by the Russians. It was abandoned by the Russians in 1917 after the Russian rule lasted for nearly thirty years.

It is understood that the architect is Ishak Pasha in the inscription on the front side of the harem crown.
It is unthinkable that only the third generation of the Çıldıroğlu family, who served as a state pastor, made such a magnificent palace, and the Isaac Pasha who was brought up with the Ottoman culture.
One of the most interesting information is that about 130 stone masters worked in this palace. The stone masters indicated their special symbols with a small sign next to the stones they used for the palace.
The picture shows the signs of the stone masters.

The oldest information about the palace is the travel book written by Napoleon, an agent sent to Iran to cooperate with the Ottoman Empire.

Caught in the Ottoman Iranian border, the agent Pierre Amédée Emilien Probe Jaubert thrown in prison in the palace. A death decision is made about himself.mahmut pasha gives the order to die, but when he dies, ibrahim pasha releases him .

Let me give you an interesting information, an Iranian ambassador who goes to the Ottoman palace is hosted in the palace by Ishak Pasha in the town of Dogubeyazit and is shown to him all the magnificence of the palace.
When the ambassador goes to the Ottoman Palace, III Selim (the sultan of the Ottoman Empire) tells that the Isaac Pasha has built a magnificent palace and that Isaac Pasha may have an eye on the Ottoman throne.
III Selim ishak throws the pasha into the dungeon and ishak pasha dies in the dungeon.

The palace consists of 3 main sections. Each section has its own courtyard.

At the entrance of the first part, namely the palace, it is first entered through the magnificent crown door, reminiscent of the Seljuk crown gates.
There are animal stables(horses), service rooms, guard rooms, fountain, dungeons and toilets on the right and left of the first square-shaped courtyard.

the most magnificent part of the palace mean The entrance between the harem and the first courtyard is entered through a magnificent crown gate, about 10 meters.consists of a lot of rooms, mosques, selamlik(meeting rooms), tombs.

The western part of the palace, the last part, is the harem part, that is where the private family life takes place.
