I took Metin as my private guide to Mt Ararat Hike. I am a very slow hiker and he is very patient to allow me to go with my own pace. I wouldn’t have been able to make to the summit without him. He is professional and super fluent in English (unlike all other guides in the mountain). Some guides have to borrow Metin for translation. I haven’t met any other guide who can speak English in the camps.

We even helped a woman who was left behind by her group because she slowed everyone down. We took her with us and we all made to the summit. All of us were very emotional on the peak.

Metin took very good care of everyone and he is the best guide I have seen in the Ararat. I wouldn’t have made it without him. I truly appreciate it. If you are planning a hike in the area, pls do contact him. I highly highly recommend him. His company is called Ararat summit and his contact is +90 543 397 80 10

We summited Mount Ararat in a group of 4 people (including our guide) on the 22nd of July 2022. It took us 5 days in total (with 4 nights sleeping at the mountain and summiting after the third day very early night in the morning). We can highly recommend our guide Metin Emlek (WhatsApp +905433978010) who organized the whole tour in advance and was always available if we had any questions. It was also very helpful that he has strong English speaking skills, which overall made it an unforgettable experience.

Ararat, Kuh-i Nuh, Gli Dağ, Cebel ül Haris. Ünlü gezgin Marco Polo'nun hiç bir zaman çıkılamayacak dediği dağa ilk tırmanışı 1829’da Prof. Frederik Von Parat yapmış. Tepesi bulut halkası ve karlarla kaplı. Türkiye’nin en yüksek dağı.(5137m) En güzel göründüğü yer Iğdır tarafı. Her zaman doruğu görülmezmiş.

Mount Ağrı (Ararat), Noah's flood,Ark
Holy Mount Ararat, which is mentioned in monotheistic religions and polytheistic beliefs, on which Noah's Flood and the ship he built stood on its peak after the flood. With its height of 5137 meters, Mount Ararat, which is considered sacred in cascacia, fertile crescent and Anatolia, with legends about Noah, the flood, his ship, the mountain, which are the subjects of religious books. Mount Ararat, not only in Anatolia, Turkey's neighboring state of Georgia, Russia, Armenia, Nakhichevan, Azerbaijan and Iran is considered as a sacred mountain. There is no other example in the world other than Mount Ararat, which is considered sacred by different religions, languages and races in such a wide geography. archaeological findings and cuneiform tablets Information about Mount Ararat goes back 5000 years for now. It is known that the first inhabitants of Mount Ararat were hurrians who provided cultural unity in Caucasia and eastern Anatolia for the first time. Rich water resources and wide pastures in Mount Ararat provided a suitable environment for the sheep and goats of the hurrians. The abundance of castles and necropoleis found in surface surveys on Mount Ararat and its skirts, Late Bronze Age and in the Early Iron Age, it shows that the hurrians used it frequently. In the belief systems of the Hurrians, the mountains were sacred and sacrifices were offered at certain times of the year for the Great Mount Ararat. Urartu, descendants of Hurrians, accepted Mount Ararat as sacred and offered them sacrifices. Especially since the northern and western skirts of the mountain are rich as grasslands and spring waters, the Urartians have sheltered in these parts. The first written sources about Mount Ararat are mentioned in the Urartians' expeditions to Mount Ararat and its surroundings. They used the name Erikua or Erekuahi for Ağrı Mountain and its surroundings. In the belief system of the Urartians ,which had 80 close gods and goddesses, they had Gods in the mountains, roads and ravines.September and October at certain times of the year, which usually coincides with the time of the grape harvest, offered sacrifices to their gods.
in the Torah the mountain ararat is called Hari ararat(r-r-t) and it means mountain ararat. The word Ararat is mentioned in the Torah as the name of a country, a kingdom and a mountain range in this country. The word ararat was used to mean the name of the kingdom established in and around lake van and the urartians who founded this kingdom in 1000 BC. The greatest evidence of this is the cuneiform tablets from the I Salmanasar period in the late Assyrian period in the 13th century BC. I salmanassar this region is called uruatri (urartu) in cuneiform documents. Probably, this word later changed and became urartu. the word later became ararat in the Torah. In fact, when the Assyrians called uruatri they mean the city of van and all the high mountains and region around it. The name of Cebel-i Haris (Big Ağrı) is mentioned in Islamic sources. It is probably named after the Muslim commanders who first set foot and conquered. Islamic writers and travelers report that this mountain is in the armenia region and there are many tombs and castles of Armenian kings on and around the mountain. the great traveler marco polo also kept records that Noah's Ark was on Mount Ararat or Mount Cudi. It is known as Kuh-i Nuh in Iranian geography. The Seljuks called it Ağr Mountain or Eğri Mountain. Again, some Islamic sources say that Adam and Eve came to the irem gardens after being expelled from heaven and that this place is around the mountain of Ararat.
There are many sources about Noah and the flood. Books of the 3 great monotheist religion and archaeological evidence. Noah is called the second Adam because all people were destroyed by the flood after the flood. After Noah, all people settled in the world and multiplied. Noah's Flood is said to be about BC 4000 years in the Torah and about 10 centuries between Adam and Noah in Islamic sources. Babylonians, Akkads, Sumerians, Assyrians inscription and cuneiform tablets tell that an event similar to Noah's Flood took place and that the flood took place in Mesopotamia. Some scientists date the Noah's Flood to 6000 BC. Archaeologists and scientists have demonstrated with scientific evidence that there was a huge flood around the Euphrates and Tigris rivers about 6-7 thousand years ago. During the excavations in the region, four main in the city, as a result of a great flood There are traces of possible flood disaster. These cities are Ur, Uruk, Kish and Shuruppak, which are important cities of Mesopotamia. This excavations in cities, all of them they were subjected to a great flood, then that new civilizations are formed again over time and the ruins of ancient civilization in 7000 BC. shows that it goes back to the years.
Whether the Noah's Ark is on the mountain of Ararat or on the mountain of Cudi is one of the biggest research topics today. The known fact is that there is a great flood in the Mesopotamian region. The researches to be carried out on and around every 2 mountains in the coming years will provide us with a lot of evidence.
See you in another historical monument or topic..

I climbed Ararat on a four day winter ascent with Ararat Trip (also called Ararat Adventures). Despite the winter conditions it was super well-organised with no concerns at all on the guide, equipment or food.

Best of all Agnieszka & Saffet Akkus from AraratTrip company (WhatsApp number: +905435647725) were professional and wonderfully friendly, taking time to make sure I was settled in in Dogubeyazit and going for meals with me even!

I was sad to leave after the trek!!
