We traveled as a club to Bristol CT from Long Island NY. My only complaint is we only allowed ourselves a couple of hours here! We really, really needed another day or two just inside this museum, so my wife and I are already planning to come back!

Tip #1 - GO FIND THE clock with the flying regulator. It's absolutely amazing to see!!
Tip #2 - Ask more questions. The staff is SUPER helpful and very knowledgeable.
Tip #3 - Allow extra time here as you won't want to leave!

I was treated like family by Patti, a knowlegeable clock person. As a life-long clock and watch collector, I was fascinated by the collection. Thank you Patti for the special tour. Hope to see you again in the near future. Mike Mika

We visited here this morning arriving at the 10 AM opening. After paying $7 each senior, the receptionist gave an introduction to touring the assembly of 3 buildings. Our first hall was the most interesting providing the American history(1810-1880) of mass production that led to over 70 area companies involved in the watch industry. Movement size followed the decrease in size of gears built out of wood then the move to brass/steel springs also corresponded to the decrease in case size. Early "peddler selling" to specialized stores to and ordering for specific use; Factory Punch Clocks and US Navy deck timepieces. Rooms of high quality and expensive case clocks, pocket watches and personal wrist watches were displayed.

This is a chock full display of all kinds of time-pieces ... various sized grandfather clocks, old "calendar clocks" (never saw anything like it), as well as smaller clocks. We really enjoyed walking around the exhibits, admiring the craftmanship that went into every clock cabinet - in many cases, true works of art

I found this place on TripAdvisor. It is definitely a special interest museum. The displays are informative, and nicely composed. I learned much about how clocks were part of Early America. And how the manufacture, sale and distribution helped shape the economy.
If you are interested in Early American history, mechanical devices, and how they work, this museum will be of interest to you. I spent about an hour. I would not recommend it for small children.

We had a wonderful time (no pun intended!) at this museum. Learned so much and were amazed by the sheer number of clocks!

The museum was bigger and more interesting than I had expected. There are so many beautiful clocks and a lot of interesting information. We learned about Connecticut’s role in manufacturing clocks and in the industrial revolution in America. I highly recommend this museum. The set up is very well done and the staff is nice and helpful!

This fascinating museum is absolutely worth visiting, The exterior is unassuming (it was originally a private home built in the early 1800s), but is absolutely stuffed full of clocks and watches from the past couple of centuries. The clocks are well-curated with explanations and details on how the clocks were built and used, and there's a display of all the pieces that were used to built a mid-19th-century clock. There are also displays on more recent watches and how they compare to earlier versions. The guy behind the counter who sold us our tickets, also gave us a great background on both the house and the museum. The clocks all chime every hour on the hour; be sure to listen for them!
