Amazing piece of history!

Finding this museum was such a treat! Had never heard of this author (JW Schultz) or his son (Lone Wolf) before. They led quite the life. Many artifacts have been preserved for today's visitors. This is a real gem off the beaten path. Closes Labor Day for the season, and not open every day, so check the schedule before driving to Greer.

Intimate historical museum

The first thing to know is this museum has nothing to do with butterflies!

It is a charming recreation of the original settler's home with examples of his art. The docent enthusiastically told us the story of Schultz, who took a Blackfoot wife and their son Lone Wolf, who settled this area in 1906.

History Buffs, Visit!

This is not a place to view butterflies! This is a great, subtle history museum about an interesting man who lived in the lodge and helped advance American Indian and American interests in the 19th Century. As well as his artist son, with a lot of native American art.
