Max who delivered it to our hotel was really informative and spoke good English
No messing around on return - office is professional and well run

Tip - get Waze on your phone before you go - everyone uses Waze and Whatsapp in CR. There are no proper addresses so finding things without Waze is not easy!

Everything went well when the vehicle was picked up. We took several pictures of the car and did not pay much attention to the tires!
It was a mistake! We died the day before we returned the car.
At the garage, we saw with the technician the impossibility of putting a wick and we were therefore forced to change the wheel ($150).
The old tyre was clearly worn and, from the very mouth of an employee of the rental agency (at the time of the return), he admitted that it had already undergone a repair before us.
As we paid for a new tyre and the old one had to be 30000 km (the car mileage), we asked the lessor to reimburse us (or at least to participate in this beneficial change for him).
The manager was very unpleasant, even saying that we had tampered with the photo by AI to attest that it was worn out!
In short, bad faith then aggression by email (I have all the elements to attest to this behavior).
Most likely the latter will try to defend himself from this opinion, given his aggressiveness, but I keep available all the info and photos proving my good faith to any potential customer who asks me! No defamation on my part but a bad experience that prompts me to alert on the need to check the tires before you leave the rental company because I am convinced that it is a way for them to finance the renewal of tires by their customers. Be careful!

We rented a car from wildrider for an 11 day trip to CR. They were fantastic. Great communication, no surprise fees, good price
Compared to others(no car rental is cheap in CR), and the car worked fine. Pick up & drop off was easy. We drove from San Jose to La fortuna to Caribbean and back.

We rented a car for a week, and this was our first trip to Costa Rica. We too had read about the bad experiences people had at other places. We chose Wild Rider based on their positive reviews and we are so happy that we got our car from them! The car was great, but the service and helpfulness from Alvaro was the absolute best!! Being animal lovers, we also enjoyed our time at their office , where we met two very sweet dogs and looked at an incredible Milo tank aquarium. Alvaro was so helpful— with routes, tour suggestions, explaining road and traffic info, and he even helped us with Costa Rican phone! He communicates well, and we enjoyed his company. We will definitely use Wild Rider again!

After hearing about expensive companies in Costa Rica and some people being caught out with hidden extra costs like insurance at the pickup, I was weary of choosing a company to rent from. But these guys have great reviews and I agree with them. These people are brilliant. The initial cost estimate was the final cost. We chose a cheap insurance with a $700 deductible. They talked us through all places we were going and gave inside knowledge on restaurants and places of interest nearby. We went for a slightly older Manual gearbox 4x4 and it was brilliant. It got us all over CR and handled all terrain we pointed it at. When I returned the car there was no hassle, they checked it over and gave us our full deposit back.
This is how you hope a no hassle car rental contract should work while you are on holiday.
They even gave us a free lift to SJO airport when we dropped off the car.

Rafael and the team were brilliant!
Vehicle was excellent and very cost effective compared to the big corporate car hire companies. The service was amazing, we had never been to Costa Rica before and the advice we were given by Wild Rider was hugely valuable.
100% recommended!

Excellent car for CR and excellent service, helping us with download an app, suggesting where to go, talking about speed limits, what to do if we punctured.
The cars are perfect too, small enough to be fuel efficient but also 4wd. And instead of trying to charge extra for a GPS they have a phone holder for the windscreen. 👌🙌

We rented a Suzuki Jimny for two weeks, and it was excellent. The car was new, reliable, and we didn’t experience any issues. The price was also very reasonable. Rafa provided a thorough walkthrough and shared valuable tips about the roads and driving culture in Costa Rica. Highly recommended!

How car rental should be! We booked delivery at hotel morning after arrival. They came at agreed time at breakfast. Very nice guy fills in all the paperwork while we eat. No hassles, no attempts to sell unnecessary extras. Just a nice person providing good service. Same at departure 2 weeks later. We loved the Jimny btw.
I’m old enough to have tried so many budget/main brands car rental companies and I generally HATE it for the hassle and “special price for you -s***”. This one just works. Thanks!

We rented a mini-SUV that seated four people from June 12-21 for $602. This price included the rental and insurance, as well as the fee for pick-up and drop-off at the airport and a Garmin rental. I think the actual rental with insurance was $500 (those optional additional fees added the extra $102). You should probably expect to pay more during the Christmas season though.

Hi, my daughter and her boyfriend are arriving on June 8th at 9 am at San Jose Airport and leaving Sunday at 10 am - how do I inquire about a rental for them. They don't need anything big as they only have backpacks. They are both 24 years old. Any info would be helpful.

I can't say enough good about them ..... they will be right at airport waiting for with a sign if you book right through their sight. They need a deposit and u pay in full when u get the rental. They are helpful with maps,GPS etc. we rented the jiminy it was perfect for 2 and did great on the wild CR roads. hope this helps
