We knew the G. W. Carver Museum was closed, so just went to see Tuskegee Institute. It is beautiful, but due to Covid only one way in and out. Still worth the visit. Nice old buildings, cemetery with Carver and Washington graves. Also saw The Oaks from the outside only. This would be 5 star when everything opens.

We visited this museum last week and would have liked to visit this museum and learn all about the history of George Washington Carver. This museum is closed due to restrictions around the COVID-19 pandemic. Seriously!???
Interesting building. Pretty frustrating that it wasn't open and has been closed since March 2020.
Located in the University campus, we had our temperature taken by the security guard at the campus entrance. The guard had no idea about the museum's closure, and waved us through. No staff near the museum, but there were signs on the doors of the building that explained the closure.

I wish this museum was still open! George Washington Carver is a key figure in history and his findings are still relevant today. This museum showcases a great number of Carver's accomplishments, inventions, beliefs, etc. When the museum opens back up I would recommend a visit!

Would have loved to visit this museum and learn all about the history of George Washington Carver and the Tuskegee Institute. Unfortunately this museum, along with many other National Historic Sites, is closed due to restrictions around the covid-19 pandemic. Located on Tuskegee University campus, we had our temperature taken by a security guard at the campus entrance. The guard had no idea about the museum's closure, and waved us through. No staff near the museum, but there were signs on the doors of the building that explained the "temporary closure". Will have to return if I find myself in this neck of the woods again!

The museum and Tuskegee campus are locked down due to Covid 19. I wanted to at least drive through the campus and see what it was like, but the place is all fenced off and security gated. The town looks to be in poor condition, and that is a shame because the Tuskegee Institute brought so many wonderful things to our country. I was really looking forward to being able to see the museum.

This museum details the work of George Washington Carver, a black scientist who worked to provide a better living for poor residents of the antebellum South. The museum provides lots of interesting examples of Carver;'s works. In early 2020, the museum was a bit run down, and one has the impression that it suffers from financial neglect. Several of the displays had videos that were inoperable, and the movies in the lower level were in a room that provided very poor acoustics and screen visibility. The museum is really very good, and it would be a shame if Washington is neglecting it.

Near the museum are the gravesites of Carver and Booker T. Washington, who led the institute.

I’m a little embarrassed to admit that over the years I have heard the name George Washington Carver many times, but until I visited the museum I could not have told you much about him. The museum and the other reviewers can full you in on the facts about his life, but what I really came away with is the feeling that this was a man I would have enjoyed knowing! (Unfortunately he passed away long before I was born) Beyond his outstanding intellect and thirst for knowledge, what comes through is his humble, selfless desire to help others, to make there lives better. He was driven by a natural curiosity about the world around him and not by a desire for self enrichment. I found that very refreshing. The museum is well worth a few hours of your time!

The museum is great and well worth a visit. I learned so much. However, there is some renovation going on, and many exhibits are covered up. And oddly, when you click on the website, the first thing you see are "Alerts and Conditions", but no mention of the construction. I will definitely come back after the renovation is completed. You may want to call before you come. In response to one review that said it was hard to find - I had no problem. There is a visitor parking area next to B. T. Washington's house (be sure to take the tour), and the museum is within easy walking distance. Be sure to stop in at Dorothy's for lunch in the Kellogg Hotel.

We were familiar with George Washington Carver from our visit to Diamond MO. Brilliant guy and magic with peanuts and sweet potatoes. We owe a lot to this gentleman!

My daughter and I recently visited Tuskegee to see this museum, but were unable to do so. There were limited signs and, once on the campus of Tuskegee University, we had difficulty finding the museum. We did find a tiny, tight parking lot that indicated this was where to park, but then there was no indication of which building housed the museum. There was a map sign but it was confusing and only afterwards did we realize that we were actually across the street from the group of buildings where the museum was located. You have to go across a busy street, through a small gate in a fence, then walk quite a distance to the museum. I am handicapped and was not able to walk this far. We gave up without seeing the museum. Very disappointed!
