I'm rating one singular event, not the atmosphere of actually seeing a movie or eating there. I enjoyed some standup comedy one evening with friends. While we were late, there was till standing room. We crammed in there and stood around for about an hour laughing and boo, cackling and gasping. The place was tight and service was hard to get to. It was an okay experience and I'd like to be able to go again.

I go here once a year for LunaFest with my girlfriends because it is a fundraiser. I perhaps would go here for their cheap movies on Mondays (?) but can never get myself organized for that. I do not recommend any of the food I've had here. Overpriced and pretty awful. Food takes a while to be served - one of our group got her food halfway through the films. Drinks are served in plastic, so maybe I'd stick with soda if I drank that. Beer was not extremely palatable. Too warm. I'm glad it exists for those who find it their kind of place. It is not my kind of place.

I love this place. Where else can you watch a movie that's not ancient and snack on decent bar food and have some wine or cocktail with that. The seats are comfortable (not movie seats), just more like office chairs around a table. The ticket prices are cheap enough and some nights they have I think a dollar or two movies. A great asset to Arlington.

Visited AC/DH for the first time this weekend to catch a comedy show and had a very enjoyable experience. Some of the reviewers on here have been critical of the service, but given the the setup and the nature of the business, I can understand.
We were there for a 7 p.m. show, and doors for the event opened at 6. We had received an email from AC/DH recommending we get there early, and they were right! We got there right at 6 and even then, about half of the tables were already spoken for. I'm so glad we didn't have to try hunting around for two spare seats a few minutes before the show like some other late arrivers. There is no hostess so you're on your own!
I found the service to be just fine. Keep in mind that 200-300 people are all arriving at exactly the same time, so don't go hungry and expecting your food order to come out in 10 minutes, it's just not possible really here. I found the turnaround time to be pretty reasonable in our case (~20 minutes), and heard the server trying to placate a nearby table whose order had taken longer with free tubs of popcorn and multiple apologies; they do care. My wife and I ordered pizza and I actually thought it was above average, especially for a drafthouse!
The building itself is very interesting; a nice historic feel. Being an old movie theater, the seating consists of probably 5-6 different levels. Be warned that there are tables at both the front and rear of these levels, and if you are at the rear, your sightlines to the stage might not be the greatest as you'll have to crane around the people in front of you. I also found my chair bolted down so I was unable to slide a few inches to improve it.
Overall, a really fun experience and a great place to catch a movie or a comedy show, and the food is pretty good. Be warned that you might run into service issues with the food because everyone orders at the same time and rear tables might have sightline issues, but worth the price of admission!

With the early show (7:30p) sold out weeks beforehand, we were relegated to buying tickets to the late show. Doors opened at 9:30p, Standup Comedy from 10-10:20p, and The Princess Bride movie was shown from 10:20p-shortly before midnight. Of course, just getting there was an adventure as we had to endure mother nature's special event, the beginning of 2015's Siberian Express. We dodged other vehicles wiped out on the interstates and yielded to ambulances and other emergency vehicles on our way to an especially fun parking adventure. We couldn't figure out where to park so we ended up going around the block and eventually found a metered on-street parking space along S. Walter Reed Dr.
Then, we had to get close to our buddy as we were packed into the lobby like sardines waiting in line for them to let us into the theater. Alas, we made it in and grabbed what looked like the last available table towards the back. My food was brought out to me during the Stand-up comedy so I missed half of that show as I had to turn my back to the performer to eat at the table. Becoming thirsty, I managed to get my glass of wine I ordered about 10 minutes later. The comedian seemed like he was good and funny but I was distracted by the timing of when I had my food served and the position I was forced to be in while eating it so I couldn't really tell you.
I had never seen The Princess Bride film before and didn't really get to understand a lot of what they were saying because of how loud the crowd was. It seemed like they were constantly laughing or talking the whole time so I missed a lot of what was said. All I can remember is... Inconceivable!
It seemed like a great evening and place to bring your Valentine's date and it looked like a lot of couples had an enjoyable evening. That wasn't my experience. For me, not so much... just poor service, average food, inflated prices, bad seats (of course, the tallest person in there was sitting in front of me). Yet, ask someone else and they might tell you a completely different story. It all depends on your perspective.

I was here for Valentine's Day with some friends. As you might expect, the food prices here are a bit inflated. So, if you want to order some food and have it served while you're sitting in a cushy chair and taking in some laughs from a stand-up comedian or watching a flick on the big screen, you're going to have to pay a little extra for it. Another thing to keep in mind would be that if there's a packed theater house of folks and it's dark and aisles cluttered with chairs and people sitting in some of those chairs, it might be awhile between when you place your order and you receive that order. Being prepared beforehand and knowing what you're getting into ahead of time should ease your mind or at least help you make up your mind.
I didn't care about any of these things as I was just thirsty and hungry and wanted some refreshments while enjoying the entertainment. I ordered a glass of Malbec ($7.95) and a Southwestern Quesadilla with chicken ($12.99). My food was brought out after about 15 minutes and my glass of wine about 10 minutes after that. This was a bit strange as I've grown accustomed to receiving my drink before the food. Oh well, this place does it differently. Sometime after I was finished with my glass and food our server brought by the bill. I asked him for another glass of wine at that time which I received from someone else about 10 minutes later. I was never charged for the 2nd, thus complimentary glass of wine so I would like to thank the gracious hosts of the Arlington Cinema N Drafthouse for giving me a little extra something on what was an unforgivably, cold and frigid night.
There is a bar here but you can't order from it. It's only for use by the employees of AC|DH and therefore strictly prohibited to its customers.

We had an amazing Valentines Date at Arlington Cinema and Drafthouse! Make sure to get there early to get a good seat with a table! It needs a little love to spiff it up, but I was happy to have a place that feels like a slice of home to have a fun date night! The comic was funny too!

Went last night for their sold out Valentine's Day special....got inside at 6:10pm, there was a wine tasting ($1.50 for one ounce sample but you needed tickets from server) but our server did not acknowledge us until 6:35pm. Finally got our drinks at 7:10pm. ordered food (burgers) at 6:35pm also and got our food during the moving at 7:30. The comedian was good, but only did 20 minutes. Movie - old one - was $23 for the two of us to get in. And, the theater was cold. Oh, the beer 'mug for $5.95' was about 10oz's gray goose and cranberry (lot of cranberry) was $9.95. wish I had gone next door

The good. The price for the show was very reasonable. Food and drink prices were fair. The comics were great, lots of energy in the room, great laughs.
Were it needs work. Everything in the place is well worn in. Comfortable but well worn.
The staff was nice but seemed overwhelmed. Despite several members of the staff walking past us repeatedly It took 20 minutes to place our order,( stepping to the bar isn't an option) two drinks and some nachos, and 30 minutes for any of it to show up.
We had fun and would go back for another show. Next time I'll eat before I go and try to order drinks early and maybe more than one at a time.
